That was my mistake. I'll never make it again, either.

I was lucky enough that I didn't need to get a job right away. I had a job in another industry that payed the bills, but I hated it and wanted better. So I was able to hold out for what I wanted and worked best for my family.

Is there also an endorsement of "max weight"?

It might not be an endorsement per say... but allows you to carry heavy loads up to 80,000?

No, its called heavy haul or over sized loads. Companies do special training for these types of loads. They also go into the regulations and compliance that you need to know when hauling this type of material. There is not state "endorsement" for this type of hauling.

You have to have permits per state for your truck to travel through in order to carry over 80k lbs. It gets to be a pain because you can only travel on approved routes, over certain weights and sizes you have to have a pilot vehicle and etc etc ....

Chinatown, Thanks for this info and I've notice as I read the forum that your posts are always helpful and to the direct to the point, which is appreciated for all of us learning the jargon and ways of this industry as newbies. Could you please clarify what is meant my "accessorial pays" ? Is it like benefits, detention pay, etc. ?

China will explain better, but any extra pay becides the cpm, things like, detention pay, tarp pay for flat bed, bonuses like fuel bonus or safety bonus, some places pay extra to go to NYC or Canada

Yes, all different policies on that.

    Layover pay
    Detention pay
    Tarp pay
    NYC pay
    Canada pay
I worked for hazmat/tanker company that paid 1/4 hr. pay for pre-trip/post-trip/fueling, as long as it is logged.
One place paid $50.00 or a hotel room for 34 hr. restart pay.

All companies are different and write their own policies.

    lcfd15, 123456 and abodyjohn88 Thank this.
