sometimes I use the MYDAT truckers app to look for hotels, it'll tell you where to park and then I mapquest it,
I'd use Google Maps, but that uses too much data.

Typed like a true company driver that does not pay for the fuel. :p

I have no experience with the "boat tail" rear extensions on a trailer, but I can assure you the side fairings & other under trailer "aero devices" do work. I have the "air tabs" on my truck (had them on my other truck) and they work. If I had my own trailer it would have both air tabs and side fairings. I cringe every time I hook to a non-aero dynamic trailer.

Well rolled out of the house last Monday on the way to Blaine, took a slow 3 day journey through the Nevada/Oregon back roads. Picked up a load of onions out of Quincy, WA yesterday and heading back to Dallas for an early Monday delivery. Taking my first OB Florida load in over two years here after that heading to West Palm Beach. Only thing available that will get me back for that driver meeting. Forgot to ask who it is delivering to. Any help on some parking intel for that delivery would be appreciated. Also are all of the toll roads out of bounds for us in FL? Thanks for the info.

the West Palm is Costco I think. I was only there once. Closest truck stops will be all the way up in Ft. Pierce. I was told they don't allow us to park there over night anymore. As for the toll roads, all are outlawed if you want the money back.

As for me I got both my delivery stops done today, and no one else hit me. I had put myself on the weekend board because they said they were short drivers for Sunday, but when Kaleb called, all he had was Monday loads. Got a 4 stopper (my 1st multi-stop Outbound in quite a while). Looks like it might be that time of year again for loads. Kinda sucks...my new slower pace is hurting my wallet a bit more than I'd like. I won't be in the same zip-code as what I grossed at Crete, but I also haven't had issues with anyone in the shop in a while. At the pace I am at now I will be under 120k miles for the calendar year.

ok before i ruffle too many feathers with this comment let me explain the way i look at it, when i was thinkn bout the amish i was thinkn how far do we want to go to save fuel, we could get all the aero stuff and go 55 like prime or we could even go the min of 45 mph, some drivers will talk about saving fuel yet have 3k worth of chrome on their truck and smoke 10 dol pks of cigs, when talking about saving fuel as an owner op no one seems to mention what expenses they have at home, it just seems to me that some only have to save to pay for their stuff at home, i would rather live on less at home and be able to go with the flow of traffic at my job, a driver living in the city with a 30k pickup, a
20k harley and a bass boat has more expenses than a guy driving an electric car charged with solar panels who rides a bicycle and paddles a canoe at the lake in the country. what im trying to figure out is, is it that its hard to make a living as an owner op with fuel prices or is it a choice based on the persons way of living, everyone is different. i dont wanna look like guy who wants to burn up fuel but if a prius blows by a full size pickup it just means he made different choices. i do what makes sense for me cuz ive learned most people dont make any sense, some refuse to buy a foreign car yet fill it up with gas from the middle east just to get to the store to buy stuff made in china lol i do know one thing, if i had to drive like a prime driver just to get by i would remain company, now the best thing to do would be to live below your means AND save fuel.none of this is directed at u JD, i knew my comments might not go over well so i figured i would nip it in the bud now. although we kno someone will prob misunderstand this explanation but thats ok, just wanted to explain myself as im not good at debating.

and also even tho im in a company truck i may not go 55 but i do take it easy when getting up to speed and use the clima cab whether its 90 or 0 outside with no complaints. i dont like to come across as a driver who has no respect for company equip. have a good wknd everyone im heading toward houston

When I was a Creten, those under trailer skirts had other advantages besides fuel savings. Believe it or not it helped stability in cross winds...exactly opposite of what I expected. I figured by increasing the surface area on the side of the trailer it would make it an even bigger sail for the wind to push but it didn't. Plus in rainy weather it helped 2 ways. First it channeled more road-spray towards the rear of the trailer increasing visibility along the sides for lane changes. The second, that rearward channeled road-spray kept a lot idiots from tailgating in the rain because it increased the cloud of behind the truck.

When I get behind one of those guys with the tail cone deployed, I can feel a difference in how much less swirl is coming off their trailer rocks my truck from side to side.
