I didn't get 8 last month and I won't this month. I had a small shop visit last month and I was in the 1st drivers meeting this month. And I seem to be off sequence for the good runs. Put myself on the weekend board early in the week an still end up sitting until Monday. But it really doesn't matter anymore because after that last blow-out with the shop about not getting in for service on time(even though everything seems to be on good terms between us now) I stopped pushing for miles...my rule of thinking, the less miles I turn, the less often I have to go to the shop, the less I go to the shop the less opportunity for confrontation and the less opportunity for the so-called mechanics have to screw things up...I have my eyes and ears out for a local/regional gig. If one appears that makes me around the same money as I am on my new reduced production effort...I'm flying the friendly skies home.

    I Was just venting earlier.

(but in all seriousness here's the scoop)
I ran up onto a 34 then got held up for several days waiting on the meeting.
It was suffer the wait for the meeting or start building up points.
Im doing the best I personally can to do a good job.
Im even having to sacrifice my home time in order to play catch up on my miles.
Just closing out today's run plus last weeks waste of time gives me roughly 2895 miles for 2 weeks.
Ive always toughed it out when it comes to slow times and never really sweated it.
but if Poly shows their ### about it and says I'm falling behind it will be our last conversation.

Just out of curiosity, how come you waited several days for the meeting?

Had to make one of them or get smacked with points.
There was nothing in the meeting that they couldn't have
put in a newsletter or flyer.( except for the donuts)
It feels like Poly just wants us on our knees and afraid.
    Control,control,control.
Their attitude is rather fascist when it comes to threatening
    the employees.
Strange place , no doubt about it.

I understand, but I wouldn't of waited for several days with 3 chances. I agree the meeting didn't seem very important, but there is a reason safety wise why they do it. Donuts were good though. I guess I've been lucky, have never felt threatened here. I never hear a thing from them unless it's outbound or backhaul.

Mev you do understand that the FMSCA requires every trucking company to have a yearly face to face safety meeting to stay in compliance. They can't just put it in a newsletter, or electronically. And poly gives you 3 different dates to make the meetings. Quite accommodating to the employees.

Poly does not even come close to being a company based on be afraid and on your knees.

Giving you points for missing the safety meeting is a consequence of your choice, not a threat, and they gave you the choice to schedule yourself for which meeting you would make. They are not forced dispatch, you get to pick your loads, and where you go.

I don't doubt you , but in all my years of doing this Ive never heard of a company safety meeting or been required to attend one.
Yes the dispatch is good , i got a great load today , its my longest load yet.It will help me recover the last two weeks.
Just when i was about to give up , everything turned around.
    All is well

In my 10 years at Crete, I only attended 2 safety meetings and only because I was in the defensive driving "bad boy" class just before the safety meeting and it deducted 2 safety points from your company safety score to attend. I don't recall any such regulation requiring safety meetings...in fact, none of the companies I have worked for before Poly required one.

Mev, if you thing Poly is so overbearing and strict, you should work for some of the micro-managing Mega-carriers like Crete or Swift...many of those places you have the constant feeling of someone looking over your shoulder 24/7 waiting to pounce. I don't quite know where you're getting that kind of feeling from Poly.

    Mev Thanks this.
