Thanks ... I hear you on the trailer issues ... one of the reasons I want my own, I don't want anyone hanging anything on me again ... as for those rates RR gave you, in those lanes they're actually in the ballpark. You might be able to do a little better, you could do worse.

    To the op,

I hear ya on the trailers but I guess it comes with leasing on to them. Doesn't xtra-lease account for wear and tear and other stuff that might happen???

The trailer came to me brand new. I would imagine they want it returned in like shape. I do know they charge x amount of dollars per 32nd of burned of tread per tire. They also charge for brakes. Now I also had vent holes cut into the front and back of the trailer, it would not surprise me if Xtralease wanted to charge for an entire new panel up front and a new door in back which could add up to thousands of dollars. The trailer has also been 'rubbed' a few times, I actually caught one guy on tape hitting my trailer then running off.
So I don't know for sure how much that is all going to cost me.

Just for kicks, I would bring it in and have Xtralease add it up for you so you know how much its gonna cost you ballpark wise. Maybe offer to buy it out from them since you did the mods; as a result they're more than likely gonna charge you $$$$. Can you post pics of the trailer???

Does RR have scales at their terminals? Do they usually load heavy?

No.... Most of the terminal load I haul is under 25,000, so no need to scale. I have only scale one load since I been with roadrunner and that was a broker load it was 43k.

The first few months all I ever hauled out of the terminals was heavy. Twice rolled out of the Livermore terminal across the Livermore weigh station that was OPEN All TRUCKS ENTER 200+ pounds over. I discovered that 56 miles away at the CAT scale lol. A couple other times I had to return to have some weight taken off in Livermore and the St Paul MN terminal. It was no muss no fuss, they fixed it very quickly.

The past month or so I have been blessed with loads no more than 35,000 pounds. A couple were in the 25,000 like this last one from Livermore to Miami, 8.2 miles per gallon.

Do you really average 1700 miles per trip like website advertises?
