You're going to quit because they fell 200mi short of what they allegedly promised you..really???..as Paul Harvey would say...now for the rest of the story...for which there is something you're not telling....

....he wasn't happy with em so he parked their truck & walked , paul Harvey will have wait for the greasy details of why he wasn't impressed with them ....the bigger problem is why they put lies on public record and why they haven't paid the man his $ ....that's where we come in beside our fellow driver and try to encourage & give advice on the problem ....let's not forget the old saying ..." a house divided will not stand " ....we need to stick together on everything ...that means every driver is innocent until proven guilty . ....i know there are some sorry butt drivers that took this lazy mans job to get out of working but i won't degrade my own career by sticking up for those are trying to degrade our jobs ,our pay .....truth is OTR should be at about 60cpm by now in this age and with all the sacrifice ,but we are loosing the ball game because we are busy attacking each other instead of having a voice & direction along side each other no matter what , it's worth more to side with ourselves then give them more ground they already taken from all of us

I agree, yall wanted him to have more respect? He turned the truck in... So what he didn't give notice.. Will a otr company give US notice if they fire us? No. For how some drivers are treated at these mega truxking mills I see nothing wrong with what OP did.

I agree that some people don't deserve respect and that many deserve to get screwed by drivers walking BUT, its not worth screwing your resume over it. Call it politics. I would personally threaten legal action against them over the DAC entry. Trucks GPS'd? That would be the proof it wasn't ditched if you drag them to court over "abandoning" it.

....i agree the OP should have gave atleast one week notice & blew lots of smoke up the X bosses butt on a positive note , this would probly save him the hassle of clearing his DACreport as for the $ 575 ,that's alot of $ to have snatched out of his hands , more than likely they can't retain a driving force , so they have drivers sign an agreement to have orientation cost taken out of the drivers pocket so they can continue the cost of honey mooning more drivers into their program at the expense of the drivers who are not impressed with them and quite ......is it any wonder why they have such crafty policies ?

I couldn't agree more. It's always difficult to be the bigger person, to do the right thing when you feel you've been wronged. Which is exactly why it's rare that people do it.

That is why I tell new drivers even at a smaller mega carrier like Decker to document EVERYTHING on paper and photo and video if necessary when they quit. (I consider any "for hire" OTR company with over 100 trucks Mega, you get the same treatment and are NOT treated like family, contrary to the BS stickersthey put on their trailer.

It is very likely he signed an agreement at orientation saying they would take that money if he quit early. My question is why do people agree with it and sign for it to begin with?

I have heard both good and bad about Decker. BUT let's remember this site was created in response to DAC, these companies getting vindictive and blackballing and smearing a drivers name and reputation for 10 years, and they post whatever they want whether its the truth or not.

OP, if you are telling the truth, you can post a rebuttal on DAC, but Decker can respond as well. Also,as long as you are truthful, you will find a better job, and there are much better ones out there they Decker. They tend to not advertise, because they dont need to. They also tend to not use DAC.

I have "quit under dispatch" on mine fron 2005, which is a blatant lie. I quit without notice, on a weekend, but I was not dispatched and my truck was already at their yard.

I also have "review required before rehire" from another one of these "family" companies in 2007.

I now make between .40 and .45 per mile, almost always average over 3000 miles per week, hardly ever lay over, and of I do it is a bare minimum of $100 per day. We habe good, newer equipment and my truck still does 70 MPH. I pull reefers, and it is not always sunshine and roses. But it sure beats being a Borg Quallcom Robot.

I didn't know that. So, if a perspective employer checks a drivers DAC, will they see both the previous employer and the drivers comments?
