Sad that people are to ignorant to identify dangerous conditions and adjust their driving for the sake of others.

The "New Breed" of Truckers don't install or use CB Radios, that's outdated Tech. They have their GPS and Smartphones to tell them what's up ahead and when to turn and stop.

If you need a cb to tell you when to slow down you are an idiot.

    My eyes tell me that.

Thank you. This ^^^^^^ 100%. No CB needed, just common sense and paying attention. If you are relying on a CB to tell you what's ahead you are as bad as the "new generation" with their smart phones and GPS. Let me spell it out again, C O M M O N S E N S E. Thank you.

it doesn't matter how cautious you are. all it takes is one blind curve. and if your on ice. even 5 mph won't stop you. at which case, you probably shouldn't be on the road anyways.

i'm a new generation trucker, who still uses a cb.

I'm sorry dgman, that just isn't true. Many, many times, 1 or 2 or 5 miles down the road, someone in the past would say, "back 'er down, westbound, big wreck up ahead", and it would give you that extra time to get off or slow down or pull over a mile BEFORE the wreck, so you weren't sitting 50 ft from the wreck waiting for someone to pile into you. You younger drivers just don't get it, and it's becoming futile to try and convince you of that. I don't mean to single you out, as obviously, it's a common idea from younger drivers, and I'll bet dollars to donuts, not one of those drivers, especially the 1st R&L truck had a CB on.

In traffic and weather conditions like this, you need more stopping distance than what most of these drivers could probably even see. By the time they realized traffic was "piling up", there was no way to stop in time.

Keep your CB's on drivers. Listen to what's going on, even it if is BS chatter. At least when the weather is bad like this.

One thing I don't get, why some drivers stayed in the road when they knew they were fixing to crash into the car or truck in front of them? But then again, there was probably cars in both ditches... Nevermind.
