I never had to work that way in LTL. We had a set time to get to work, the only question was what time we would get off. After we were done, no sooner, no later.

That used to happen on a regular basis at my terminal. I'd get "we need you to grab that, (where-ever and what-ever that was,) and get back ASAP so we can get it on the line haul!" So I'd bust my butt to get back to the dock, only to find no open doors, and quite often, nothing ready to drag away from a door. Of course, it would have helped if a third of our dock doors were not permanently blocked with storage trailers!

We do a ton of interline where we will give another carrier our freight. I had 11 stops on my list, but six of those were going to NPT. They cover all the crappy areas that we don't venture into.

Man that sucks if your hurting for cash but if your not kick back and enjoy. Our city board has been getting cut a little bit. They projected us to loose money the first two weeks but we made money terminal wise in Jan. No cuts on the Linehaul board still everyone down to extraboard running strong. Think we been using purchase power cause the lack of drivers on linehaul.

new mexico gets some weird weather. And the people don't slow down for ANYTHING.

Had a dude JUMP his two wheel drive pickup truck right in front of me (easiliy 2 feet of air) because well, who knows.

but icy slick snow packed roads and new mexico drivers are fun to watch.

Bahhhh... just got done with taxes.

If anyone cares to know, I made $57,000 for last year. Out of that I shelled out $8,600 in federal taxes, and $2,700 in state taxes. Plus an additional $3,000 in social security (which Big Don probably will get to enjoy before I ever see a penny of it).

Eight months of my income was driving linehaul and then the final 4 months was P&D. I am anticipating around $47,000 for this coming year staying P&D. If I forget, you can also ask me a year from now how I actually did.

As for getting taxes done... stay away from Wal-Mart sponsored Jackson Hewitt booths... That is another story worth reading.

And that is absolutely as it should be. After all, my social security went to your dad. . .:biggrin_2559:
So which is more money in your outfit, linehaul or P & D.
H & R Blockheads is another good one to stay away from, under most conditions. And that is a story that is NOT worth reading. Suffice it to say ah crap, never mind. Bunch of frigging idiots there.

so, at our place, if you have a regular route (we'll put that in quotes) you can just call in the day before it leaves and confirm. So, while I don't have a quote "bid" route, I have some regular routes I"ve been running and I just call in and confirm before they can mess it up. OH wait, I mean help them out by covering the same ones.

8:30am Sunday, call in and confirm my monday route (112), guy takes information and tells me weight, pieces, etc.

10am Sunday, wife asks me if work is getting any better. I say I doubt it.

11:30am Sunday, work calls and says "can you take route 112 for monday?" ummmm, duh.

    wife's question answered.
