I agree with everything you said sir. My first truck was a 2003 Pete 379 red c-16 600cat signal turbo beautiful truck. Own it til 2013 (Nov) 2005-2013 had it for 8 years paid it off no real problems with it at all. For some freaking reason I got this hair up my ### and had to have a newer truck, the biggest mistakes I made in my life almost ruin me. I have now a 2008 Pete 389 beautiful truck but the DPF ######## almost ruin me. I basically had to do some not so legal stuff to save my business if you know what it mean. But if I could do it all over again I would have kept my old truck I'll never ever by a post emissions truck agin I'll buy old. And run local were I can get away with the older truck stuff. You don't have to a have new truck to be sucessful in this business it's quite the opposite especially if you are a new O/O.

Agreed, i had a 2008 C-15 in a kw to which I invested $50 large in a year in repairs, towing and hotels. That's the reason why it's gone and now I drive a 2014 pete 579.
I hope your business is doing well by now. There are things we have to learn the hard way and though I agree with you on the motivation to buy new, I would had never sold my paid off bad an us 379 to buy a 2008 1st year DPF try out. I think you should had done a bit more homework, still our situations are different.
I would had bought new and put a driver on that "paid off" truck.

When I purchased that 2008 kw, financing wouldn't qualify me for anything older, and everything newer was way out of their price total limit, so I had year, miles, and truck price to play with which landed me on that kw as a 3rd option after the first 2 didn't go through. Whack it is, but business is business and I am willing to risk in order to gain, and I don't hide behind the "I cry if I lose a dollar today even if it could bring me many more tomorrow".

If you're talking to me, you must not know too much about me. Still I'd say my round trip home cost is $145.
people need to organize themselves. Get a card with miles and use it son, we use cards and cash on the road more than a freaking bank handles new accounts in a month.
have you heard "it is slow in the winter"?
I've been gone from home since Jan 2, and just got to a full month out, seeing my kids is worth the $145 and still saves me a spot on the board to get out of cali as soon as I'm back. Btw the cursing is over rated.

It's quiet here in louisville... I'm #1 on the board waiting for one of those horrible loads going to California...

Lol its slow over here in Portland, I just checked the board and all I can say is seriously there's a $1.29 Flat or Drop load going to Charleston who thinks that's acceptable for a full load

    Lucar Thanks this.

Can one of you guys explain how my position on the board works and how I know what it is? I got empty in my hometown on Monday and have been watching the board to see if anything that comes up can make me want to go back to work. I'm just wondering if I should be benefiting from being empty on Monday, am I in a good position?

I don't understand loadboard position either. All those loads are the same, with the same equipment requirement, but with different destinations. I don't understand why my position ranges between 10 & 20

because they aren't the same, they vary by weight , pickup date , and destination, pickup location. those differences in weight might affect how many are matched up or eligible for the load.

easiest way is ask coordinator, you shouldn't have a problem loading out of Huntington. but as posted those numbers are rough board position.
