Every time before I go to hook up my trailer I squirt some grease on there with the grease gun.
Grease gun is an essential tool, every once in a while go though and squirt some grease in your kingpins, steering column, tie rods etc. Keeping you steering column tuned up with grease can help you pass your Level 1 inspection as well by tightening up any play when the inspector shakes and twists the column.

IMO Teflon disks work great until they get some age on them & then start to curl.

i got fired because of 5th wheel grease years ago, didnt know grease was a big deal i just smeared it on the 5th wheel. then some young grease monkey said i didnt even know now to put grease on a 5th wheel rite. after he took a pretty good beating from the grease paddle i got fired for some simple poo like that. and the worst part it was my own truck,i didnt tell him how to run his not paid for snap on tool box,so leave me alone. be safe out there
rank Thanks this. -
There is also Teflon lined fifth wheel plates/hitches. I tried a Teflon plate. It worked for about 4 times dropping trailer then the metal ring that kept it up on the king pin came out. The disc fell off. I didn't buy another.

I have no doubt that we could design a system where there is a cushion of air between the trailer and the fifth wheel. But sometimes you just have to admit that what you have is good enough.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but the Lucas 5th wheel lube is good stuff doesn't get hard like grease does in the cold comes in a nice little squeeze bottle making it easy to put on and you don't need as much of it as you do grease
