Im pretty sure you will find that they really don't hurt much. But it is a learning curve like most things.

My biggest problem is back roads you know most of the time it's exactly "this far" to the next stop then add in towns and traffic and ugh red-lights next thing you know you got 5 minutes you pull in with 1 minute to Spare then bam violation because of the time it took to back into a space I get like 2 a month for 1 or 2 minutes over the log dept doesn't seem to mind much from my experience

Not sure I should say how to beat that here....... Oh well. If you within 5 miles of you stop, pull over and log out. Shut the truck off and restart, then just drive to the truckstop. Of course only do that if your in a real bind. And you didn't hear this from me. Lol

So I just got a call from contractor relations. TBH I had forgotten that they even existed. Now I've received similar calls at other companies but this one felt a little different. Not sure I can explain it but it wasn't "what can I do to make you feel better" more "what can we do to make things better?" I'm sure most won't understand what I'm trying to say but I think it's things like that that make it feel more like a family here then a job. IDK maybe I've been drinking too much of the KOOLAID but whatever it is, I want more.

Oh and for the first time ever I didn't really have any suggestions on how life at Mercer could be improved. I really need to stop drinking this stuff.

Maybe he needs to pull up several times. I mean, you know what they say about flatbedders and backing....it could take a while......

Lol ive had to put this trailer into some pretty questionable backing situations you know sometimes the customer wants me a little more to the left lol.... But on mine if I stop for less than 5 minutes as soon as I start moving forward again it flips me back onto the drive line. It takes the 5 minutes to give you back your 5 mile buffer

The system Mercer uses is that sensitive? The last elog system I used would let me drive up to two miles under 25 MPH before it switched me to the drive line and then if you stop and switch it back in under three minutes it wouldn't register it on the log. Three minutes was the minimum it would log. Those little facts have come in handy more times than I could count. I would go on duty as soon as I pulled into a truckstop. Fuel on duty then switch over and park without logging more time. It has allowed me to park outside a receiver then deliver the next morning without digging into my 11/14 unit I leave the receiver. Does the mercer system log it if it's less than a minute or so?
