You would like to think that I am feeling butt hurt but I can guarantee you that I'm not. The reason that I appear to be butt hurt in your eyes is because butt hurt is the lens that you look through to form your perspective. You should really find another lens to look through because being butt hurt is bad for you.

Crete used to be a top pay co...with load select dispatch drivers had control over their miles and income..now that to has taken over those days are gone...small pay and hand held is what he wants...Crete used to have a waiting list to be hired on...n any more...I just can't understand why drivers are so satisfied with mediocrity...mind boggling..

Load select dispatch would be incredible. I met a CRETE driver a month ago at the Columbus terminal at a DDC class. He was here about 10 years. He asked me how long I was with Crete and I said since July. He said he remembered when you had to have a minimum of 4 years experience in order to get hired on and that I should feel lucky to even be there.

And I do feel good about being there. It is my first company out of school. I researched everyone and narrowed it done to 2. Crete hired me. Drvrtech77, who would you recommend to newbies then? I am always looking for more money and better conditions as long as there is sustainability. No more oil patches for me.

One issue I do have with Crete is if I get in my truck after a B service and there is a camera looking back at me. That day will be the first of my notice.

46k gross? Or did you mean net? To be honest, I never made less than $55k at Crete, and that included the year I had 2 mos off on medical leave. And you made more than the other guy...no wonder he's mad!

I've made more than that since my 2nd year at Crete. I took it easy this year and still made $58k. With the raises, I'm sure we'll be over 60 next year. Hopefully you were talking net.

I am not a big-runner, I am fortunate to have a pension each month that pays all the bills, still I made $61k in the saddle last year.

I hired on in 1994.They wanted 2 years. The terminal manager in Spartanburg had to call the safety dept to get me hired with 1 year and 10 months of experience. They didn't have Qcomm then. When u called in mt, they might offer you 5-10 loads. Take any one you want, as long as you could log it legal.. Dispatchers were polite and helpful. They also had alot of long loads. Some guys would haul short loads to stay near home. I always took the longest, preferably to the west coast. Before they could monitor drivers, you could make up for lost time by running hard with a long load. In the past, if you were delayed and lost miles and complained, they just might give you an 800-900 mile overnighter so you could recoup your lost time. One day i did 10 hrs of driving twice to make up for a day i sat.

I worked for Crete for 18 years. Never heard of any waiting list ever. What truckload carriers have a higher pay rate than Crete? Plus practical mile pay ? I look at the ads and I see companies with top pay around $.38-40/mile and they pay short miles.
