I'd live one of those super low drop decks. The tires aren't that big of a deal. You just got to buy quality, carry a spare, and keep the speed down when loaded heavy and the concrete is hot. The guys that have tire problems with them all want to run 75 in August when it's 90+ degrees out.

I Average between 51 and 55mph I drive slow but not always there's rare occasions between WY & ID when the wind is in my Favor I'll do 75-80 but not very often... Speaking of which I have my very first 9mpg with a load last night very happy about that... I might consider turning in this trailer next year and buying one for myself from a dealership or used with a lower deck it only adds to what I can haul and it never hurts to have something and not need it than need it and not have it. Plus they are the same price as the one I'm buying now [IMG]

There needs to be something done for when a driver commits to a load and then 2hrs go by with no resolution either way. I accepted number 3 over 2 hours ago and still no movement. A driver should be released from a commitment after a certain time with no load so that he can get something else instead of watching other loads come and go. Just venting a little.

All ya gotta do is call your coordinater and have them pull you off it. I do it all the time. Once a load I've committed to runs the board and gets to me, (it will show as accepted on the load board) I give them thirty minutes, and if it's not dispatched by then I'm off it and booking another.

Like spyder said, check on the load in 20 minutes, keep on your coordinator about it. If something else comes up take it, you are good until you are dispatched on the load. Call the agent directly and bug them if you need to. How long you wait is up to you. If nothing else is available that is acceptable then keep bugging them about the load and wait until (a) something better comes up or (b) you get a final answer on the load. Some shippers will wait hours as they play one carrier against the other trying to lower the rate. You can choose to play their game, or move on, your choice.

whether I'm looking at the load on the computer, tablet, or phone, I save a screenshot of a load once I accept it. Again when dispatched. A few times I've been paid way less on a load. I sent the screenshot to truck pay and it was immediately corrected. Whether the agent had to pay out of pocket or not is not our concern, if we agreed to a rate we need to be paid that rate. Its hard enough to get detention pay as it is, we can't be cutting our own rates after we've been dispatched.

When you see CBD on the load pay attention to rate changes or delays as the shipper plays one carrier against another. I especially like when they take three hours to finally dispatch a load, then you don't have time to get there before they close.
