Short answer yes. You can run legal and make money. But I'm still not volunteering for one.

Not for new hires. But honestly, does it really matter? There might be five companies worth leasing to. And they all require them. Well maybe not admiral merchant.

    Joetro Thanks this.

Good point. I hate the idea of e-logs, but, making money with a good company would ease the pain. Just like the other changes in this industry, you either accept it, or deal with a company that may not meet ones needs. I've been looking at Landstar, but I've put Mercer on my radar, too, after reading this thread. Thanks!

eLOGS will be mandatory come next year for all companies in the USA .There is a grandfather clause but only a handful of companies with fit the criteria. . Best get used to them now and be ahead of the curve. ..

There is no final rule set yet. They don't even have the specs set for the devices yet. In other words its not written in stone yet. They have pushed back the proposed rulemaking to nov. 9 2015. Which means the mandatory compliance date would be at least 2 years after that. Source is truckers news. So if anybody is telling you that elogs will be mandatory in 2016, they are either lying to you or do not know any better.

I have spoken to a few drivers that use it now and it tracks down to the minute and seconds and they claim the recoup time because of not having to round out to 15 minute lines .one guy even claimed to regain about 15hrs extra a week vs. Paper logs so I'm not to worried about it. Keeping sleepy drivers off the road will make it safer for everyone and maybe shippers and brokers will consider our time more valuable and book loads with our clocks being taken into consideration only time will tell...

Last I heard, it was 2017, but since they keep pushing it out (and have been for some time) because they can't make them work universally without ramifications, you'll have to forgive me for not falling for the "Get used to them, they will be mandatory by XX-XX-XXXX" crap.
