But again, it doesn't matter. Mercer requires them for new hires. And before long will require them on all trucks. You and I might not like it, but it's the way it is and in the words of uncle Lenny we are free to truck elsewhere.

As for Mercer, my question was simply asked about their policies, which you answered. I wasn't arguing against those policies nor judging Mercer because of them. Unfortunately, I allowed myself to get derailed by a thread hijacker. My apologies. -
Joetro Thanks this.

I read somewhere that Mercer's EOBRs were less intrusive than LS. I guess it doesn't really matter. If one does one's job, one shouldn't worry. I just want to be successful and get away from temp controlled.

Joetro Thanks this.

I like the fact that it's pone/tablet-based as opposed to having to have equipment installed.

Its still a machine telling me what to do. I might have to look up uncle lenny. And its still not written in stone and I dont have to like it.

Well I think I should apologise to you guys. After spending 2 hours trying to get my rig unstuck from my driveway and then consuming a few adult beverages made me an angry monkey. I did not mean to come off like I did. And it certainly not meant to Spyder, Joetro, or OONewbie. I get a little revved up sometimes. Sorry.
OONewbie Thanks this. -
Bad monkey, I dont see anything in your previous posts you need to apologize for. I'm in complete agreement with you about not liking the forced change.
Bad Monkey Thanks this. -
I'm your age, spent 4 yrs. w/Landstar, and am now at Mercer. Landstar is a good system, but if you are just jumping into the owner-operator pool, I think Mercer provides a far better support system. That's really the biggest difference between the two. Mercer pays quicker, you'll have a load coordinator (yet still maintain your ability to choose what you will or won't haul), and esenyially the samr 'benefits' of fuel and parts discounts. Good luck to you, wherever you land.
OONewbie Thanks this.
