So what's with the shortage of trailers I keep hearing about for new drivers waiting to come on because there are no trailers? Mercer has what 1500-2500 drivers? Taking in what 10-20 new O/O's a week , Getting 40 trailers a month shouldn't be that hard(least I wouldn't think so) What kind of trailers do they order for O/O's I know great danes, but if they are that far behind on getting trailers shouldn't the start getting them from another vendor as well?

I'm not sure what the problem is, that's what I am waiting on. All set to go, talked to the recruiter yesterday and said that he is still waiting for the trailers to be prepared. No idea how much longer I have to wait. I know that it would be worth it.

Do you expect them to just keep trailers on hand for you? Who is suppose to make that payment? Go out and buy a trailer, problem solved.

I know that they are currently going through them as fast as they get them. Had a big boom of applications since the truck show

Can a Mercer driver tell me what they paid for tires? I'm set to come on the 29th which should have trailer by then. But my truck will need new tires soon.

I've often thought of going to Mercer pulling a van...but at one point there wasn't much van freight available. I live here in central Fl would that hinder me at Mercer? Also I have my Hzmt and twic card would that help? And can you pull military freight in van or is that strickly a flat bed thing? thanks

As far as living in central FL goes, it depends on how often you want to get home. If you can stay out for a month or more at a time, that shouldn't be a problem. If more often than that, Mercer probably won't be the best fit. Even during better freight cycles, dry van loads out of central FL are sparse and don't pay well. If you can stay out for longer periods of time, Mercer can be a great carrier for anyone who has a good understanding of freight lanes and is self-disciplined enough to work hard without encouragement from the carrier. Extremely driver friendly and when times are good in trucking, times are really good at Mercer.
