I had a load load of reels that needed 13 chains n binders. I was pretty upset that day. The agent had called me and offered to pay my 250 mile deadhead to take the load on top of the $2.5 a mile (as I recall but that might be what I got for all miles). Anyway called me again when I was about 50 miles from the pickup asking if I had 13. I wasn't to happy with the agent that day. I went ahead and bought some chains and binders and made a note about not hauling for that agent again. But ever since then the same agent has treated me VERY well so now I've marked it up as a rookie mistake on my part and learned to ask more questions when agents call asking for a helping hand.

3/8 doesn't do any good if the tie down at the trailer isn't rated for it. That's often the "weakest link" in the ratings. -
