Watch the video on the Fontaine rub rail. Might change your mind a bit.

Hey I'm headed to orientation Sunday night. I know they said they have showers there at Mercertown, do I need to take my own towels?

i would bring food.. Its cheaper then vending but you can always go to walmart but traffic SUCKS in that area lol. they do have good Chinese in that area at a decent rate too. You can do your wash on site for free 5 washers(Maybe 4) and its free. Make sure your paper work is in order your title make sure ur 2290 is paid it will get you out before the other ones that don't. if i was you i would take the truck to a TA/Petro they are doing FREE mid trip inspections and make sure it passes cuz they will do a better one @ mercer. Make sure all your lights work if not grab parts and fix it. I got a bad wire harness on my clearance light but they let me slide but im getting it fixed when i go home or find a dealer with the part. Talk to others sitting there and if you hear someone complaining take it with a grain of salt. I had one driver complain to me but like the other drivers that been there longer said don't Liston to what he saying you make it what you make it.

Wait how long is orientation? Do they put you in a hotel? Anyone know anything about it? I guess I'll ask Chris on Monday. I forgot to ask all this when he called because I was at a shipper

In a perfect world orientation would be 3 days. Like others said make sure paperwork is in order and the truck is tip top then you should be able to grab a load thurs. Most of my orientation class on Monday didn't leave until Friday. If you don't have your equipment then look at Thursday to leave. As far as what to bring? Well you'll basically be laying over for a week so just bring enough clothes and food for dinner. But more than likely guys will grab the van and eat out each night a different restaurants. At least my class did. They have showers bring everything you need as if you were home. Anything else ask away.

^ what he said:p its 3days in class but about another day getting your truck permits and fuel cards and the TWIC card. it only took 2 weeks for them to send me mine:O Act like your gonna be OTR bring stuff for how long ur gonna be out. But monday-Thursday sounds about right if u don't play around. You wanna be out by friday as most good loads are gone by then. Faster u get your stuff done faster u get out. When i did my class i was only person to leave out friday.. rest had to wait into monday.

Other than towels I carry everything else I've basically lived in the truck for about the last 12 years averaging about 290 days a year on the road. I really appreciate all the advice you guys are very helpful. Takes a little of the edge off having some idea of what to expect.
