Oh late load today our loads have been late all week. I had a big fat route today, ran it with another guy who's route was folded in, to, to other routes. The trailer was so full didn't even have room for my two wheeler. Also had a case of grill pan oil fall down off the trailer and break what a mess that was. Did a lot of back and fourth driving today to had 19 stops I haven't had that many stops since I was hauling beer!

I got a rant which may get me banned for a week or two....

So we double or triple out of our terminal to our delivery areas. Once we get to our delivery cities, we have designated drop yards to break our sets. Once a trailer is done, I back it against my next trailer with it slightly off centered so I can open both doors and get in to swing over my pallet jack/handcart/extra straps. I always leave the bills for each trailer in the back of the trailer just in case another driver gets tasked to deliver it.

Ok, so that was my setup... here is my actual rant.

I was already having a crap day. I was so hung over from "Thirsty Thursday" that I could barely function. Got stuck with a different route since someone else overindulged more than me and called in sick. Started my morning drinking a two liter bottle of diet coke to rehydrate. I know caffein does not hydrate so leave me alone on this one. Got my first of three trailers done in record time. Then backed against my second trailer when I realized I now had to "dehydrate". I was blocks away from the nearest rest facility, so I thought "hell, I just backed these two trailers back to back and the offset will make a nice private area".

Climbed in my trailers, swung over the tools...as I jumped down with all the delivery receipts in hand, a strong breeze caught me. The sudden breeze blew my delivery receipts straight down at the very bottom where I just peed.

OMG... then another breeze blew them all out of the routing package to create a nice spread. I quickly dropped down to grab as many as I could before they would all fly away. The pant leg of my right knee was completely soaked as the DRs started to absorb the rest of it. IT WAS SO GROSS.

I managed to save all of them. The fact that they were all drenged kept them from flying off. I put them back in the now translucent routing slip and placed them on my dash. Put on defroster to dry them off. WORST IDEA EVER, the entire cab now filled up with the stench of urine. My hangover quickly became an afterthought since I was too busy gagging and trying not to vomit. I never touched them with my hands after that, I just signed them with my work gloves on. I apologized to each of the customers for "spilling some water" on their paperwork.

    Worst day ever.

I'm pretty sure I got winner.

Driving back to the barn today, going westbound on I-70 way out east of Denver (little traffic, usual route), and I see red and blue lights coming fast and this cop car goes by me like I'm standing still despite doing 65. In 30 seconds he's out of sight. (I mean way over 100mph). WTH?

Drive a bit further, get to the strasberg exit and I realize there are no cars coming eastbound. And the exit has cop cars EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. There's red pickup down the embankment and as I cross thru and look at the other side (so off ramp for east bound) there's a guy up against the barbed wire fence and like 10 cops all behind their cars, guns drawn.
