Drive Cam round one.

Curiosity demands I ask, in the 2 examples used for top violations, I have to assume that Swift claims there was a trigger to both events, what triggered the recording in each event? Surely the driver running the stop sign did not self trigger.

 

We've already been told in the videos that it records 24/7 - not just when the ignition is on - in case of getting hit while parked.

 

The guy running the stop sign at 55 probably hard-braked down from 65 which triggered the cam to save the video file. A comedian once said, 'a good driver always slows down for stop signs and red lights'.

As far as seatbelts, how many times have we gone to check in with paperwork and get assigned a dock then just hop in the truck to back up? Curious what event would be triggered in that scenario for them to save the video file?

 

I will be gone before the camera makes it to my truck. I simply will not tolerate being watched and having every sound I make recorded 24/7. The whole exoneration bit is a myth.

I've had four good years with Swift and a flawless record. It's time to cash that in with another Company that does not see the need to "be in my face" every second of every day. As Swift has already stated...you will have no expectation of privacy.

I've already started talking to other outfits in Houston.

 

Knight is also talking about going down this path, I have been with them a long time but if they ever go down this road I will be doing the same as alot of you. Finding another place to be employed.

They all cry about driver shortage over and over again, But they wont look at there own actions or consider that they them self's maybe the cause.

 

If you notice regarding the incab cameras, they are leaning away from the 'exoneration' argument in favor of the 'coaching' argument like they are doing the driver the best favor since sliced bread. Plus I was reading about a truck company executive who did admit some drivers had quit over the driver facing cams-- his blase response was that those were not the sort of drivers he wanted anyway-- Me reading between the lines, he seemed to be saying they don't want independent thinking truckers out there, but meek little sheep who will do exactly what they are told and when with no question.

 

Talking to a driver that had them in Nebraska about 2 weeks ago. Very interesting to say the lest, same camera and company that's going to provide them to Swift. he is a day cab driver home every night makes $22 an hour he said if he didn't make that and wasn't home every night he would have quit because of the cameras.

So far he has been called in the office 10 times for not having a seat belt on, but the kicker was he was on warehouse property it's a really bumpy and everytime you go over the bumps it would record. he would take the trailers out of the dock door taking about 75 feet and drop them. of course he's not going to wear a seatbelt climbing in and out the daycab hooking up trailer closing the doors dropping the trailer about 75ft from dock door. Plus he has all the videos saved on his phone. I guess his driver manager is pretty cool about it and let him download it on his SD card on phone.

He's been accused of fatigue driving because he was driving down the road hit more bumps the camera goes off at that time he yawned and the camera company forward the video to his company/ driver manager and said he was fatigue driving.

also he's been accused of distracted driving same scenario going over crappy roads and he was taking a sip of his coffee and of course the camera company said he didn't have both hands on the steering wheel and forwarded it to his company.

yep as soon as it gets installed in my truck that's when I give my two weeks notice....

 

Glad to hear a driver actually standing up for themselves if more would companies would stop with all this crap.
