My husband just pre-qualified with them. My understanding is they've always been a good company with a good reputation. I'm now seeing some posts stating that miles are not good. Can anyone give me some insight? We live in San Diego...
Thanks in advance!

I am a current driver, my miles have been in excess of 2500 every week. I've been getting around 1100$ a week, doing lots of hazmat runs for Avon and CWF
I live in central texas, drive otr and stay out for lengthy stretches -
Thanks Salad - good news!

Ditto what he said...I stay out for,8 weeks and get home for 8 days...
tbrown_sd Thanks this. -
I ran team with them for 5 yrs we were buried with miles I mean buried. By the time week 6 came around and it was time to go home we were so burnt out for running that hard couldnt wait to get off that truck. Made good money there. My needs changed working local now life is good. But if I had to run the road again I would go back.

What miles do you consider good? With Con-Way, you will not be running 3,000+ mile weeks consistently as a solo driver based out of California.
Sure, you will have 3500 mile weeks and maybe hit 4,000 once in a blue moon, but there will also be weeks under 2,000 (on top of weeks where you were broken down or on hometime). There is just so much variance from one week to the next.
If you stay out 4+ weeks at a time, I'd expect 120,000 miles/year which averages 2300/week. -
Yes double yellow is correct the miles with the solo drivers at con-way can vary a lot. If you get stuck down in Laredo forget it. Some of those people were there at the local dispatch for two days with no load. They really give the teams the coast to coast runs. I did a lot of con-way freight runs that really kept us busy all year round Drivers would have three weeks of 3000 miles or so then 3 weeks of 1500 miles or so.
double yellow and tbrown_sd Thank this. -
Solos vary but when I teamed we never had a week below 5500 miles unless we broke down which did't happen a lot

How hard is it to get a co-driver? Do they help to match you up? my husband drove team before, but ended up with a lot of whack jobs. He's running reefer now and is at his wits end!Last edited: Jun 19, 2015
