I just watched the news on the Sockeye fire near Willow, AK. I have watched tons of fire crews come through and heading for that fire. Looks like it started shortly after lunch and 9 hours later had grown to 6500acres. it is extremely dry up here and the temperatures are in the 80s.

I talked to friend of mine that lives South of Willow and still has a couple miles before the fire will reach his place.

The fire season has taken a turn for the worse. I have now a fire in Sterling and one in Kenai that already caused residents to be evacuated. We are listening to the local radio on updates and they just mentioned another fire in Tok. It might get to the point where we have to bail out empty to not have a big fish fry on the way home. I am not much of a gambler and I hate to buy a load of fish, because I waited for the load and then got stuck with it and miss delivery. Could have left empty and would be home tomorrow. I guess those are the pleasures of wanting to be an owner operator.:biggrin_2554:

Back in the day, the state would just let the fires burn themselves out. Then everyone started moving into the Bush and developers started building. Money and expensive houses changed everything.

Then again, until recently, I guess, Anchorage had never had an official high temperature of 90. The past couple of years have been bad.

IMG_0321.JPG The last big puzzle piece went on the truck yesterday. Nice and shiny moose tenderizer from Magnum in Canada. Now I only have the brake dust covers to put on when I get a chance.

That could be you, Joe. I think you would look good in a long-nose. Big nose, big horn, big lights....

I'd love to run to Alaska. It's one of those things.

I am having an awesome start with my business and wish I would have not waited as long. This month is shaping up to be great again. I have averaged over $3.00 per mile on all miles driven this month.

Beautiful. I have to to do some things in my personal life before I can do that. Certain greedy people hold you back, you know? I'll get there.
