Well being home every other night and weekends off is pretty substantial perks. There's nothing like regularity also. I don't think you will be home every other night and every weekend at Mercer? It could be possible , I guess it depends on where you live.

They use EFS card and once you are load they will load up to 50%(all of the fuel surcharge and 1/2? of the linehaul) on the card and then once paperwork is transflowed pay the rest to you usually within. 24 hours. If you need a small advance to get to the load (fuel) they will help you out
BulletProof Thanks this. -
The perks are there but I run my butt off for peanuts. I left yesterday and went to Illinois and got back this afternoon. I'm home for 10 hours then I leave at 2am heading to Ohio. I'll be back Wednesday afternoon for about 10 hours and be heading back out probably back to Ohio. 10 hours isn't a whole lot of time being home by the time I fuel my truck and park it on our yard and get my cooler and everything put in my pick up and get home and eat and shower etc etc. It wears you out more than sleeping in the truck. I actually enjoy my nights out in the truck. Peace and quiet and I dont feel like I have 15 hours worth of stuff to get done in a 2 hour time frame. We have longer loads but everything equals out to the same amount of miles every week so why stay gone all week for the same amount of money on your check. If I'm going to be gone, I'd like it to be worth it. Money doesn't buy happiness but I choose to cry in a Corvette.

That's one thing about Mercer, you stay out or home as long as you want.

So I'm confused? Does that guy need to know about Vegas or Florida? Or was he just talking out his rear?
KJ I don't think the grass is greener on the other side. Everyone I talk to is complaining about freight/rates. Even I will admit I was doing better (well it was easier) during the winter then I am right now. But I've made a few small changes and at times they seem to be working. I can say that for the past 2 months I've been getting nothing but super light loads and my MPG is well over 8 now which has helped with the lower rates.
I've been back from vacation for a full week and have managed two- 34 hr restarts. Not really a good thing but I'm still making money.
Is anyone getting paid on time yet? They did the new system right before I went on vacation. I had 2 trips that I didn't get paid for until after I came back (I didn't realize they never settled, to much fishing I suppose). 2 more trips that I had to send in twice. And my short trip yesterday has yet to settle. I know they were working hard to fix this but by now maybe they should just go back to the old way.
Anyway I'm going to finish getting my truck washed and find a spot in the TA for the night. I hate NJ

Slow for everybody. I don't know why they changed it. Transflo'd my bills round 8:30am and didn't settle until noon today. Feels weird having to wait now. Oh well.

For all newbies that come on and ask about the Van division everyweek Mercer is mainly a flat company...if you're looking to do strictly Van go to SNI or Landstar ,or RR...but the money that you are expecting to make is doing Flats here...
