First and foremost, you have company policy to worry about.
Then you have the legal side of it. State laws vary widely on guns in vehicles. MD for example, prohibits tranporting handguns except to and from the range. If I'm not mistaken long guns must be unloaded.

company i work for now runs all states in & under i-40 mo, ill,wisconsin, indaina ,ohio ya i dont live in colorado any more =(

I had to rescue a load from another company driver at that Airforce base in Tampa area. They would not let this trucker onto the base because he had a gun charge in his files. Those guards at that base ran my file and had me sweating but I was cleared. Then they checked under truck, opened side boxes, climbed insided my sleeper and looked around.
