Does anyone here just fill at love's? I find them pretty cheap within .01-.02 of flying j but i wonder if that could be causing bad mpg? I got a alega problem it seems to be bad. Trying to treat it first if this doesn't work i need to get it into a shop to be cleaned as i dont have a yard to do this.
-
I don't think that there's much a shop can do for algae, run a cleaner that is specifically designed for it and have plenty of fuel filters on hand.
-
Love's fuel can give 1/2-3/4 mpg less mileage according to where you buy it. It's like the Williams truck stops that used to be around before Pilot bought them and ruined them. They had very cheap fuel, but I could expect at least 1/2 mpg less.

I refuse to buy loves fuel. Kept fuel logs for a long time and loves always ruined my MPG. Once in awhile I would get a tank that was awesome but I was just as likely to have to change my filter after a tank of loves. On average I would get 88 more miles with Pilot/FJ and 106 with TA/Petro. Loves can have the extra pennies in my book.
I did start here last winter, new to Mercer and to flats. And if you scroll back to the beginning of March you will see where I stopped posting my #s as I didn't want others considering Mercer to have unrealistic expectations. BUT there were times I sat. TBH I'm glad I did. It forced me to take the time to start learning the freight lanes, how the load board works and how some Mercer drivers will take advantage of you being new. Also I can thank Cali for me doing so well back then.
I will say this, several people on here told me I shouldn't be starting when I started. When I was first coming over I had planned on going van first then making the switch to FB after I learned the system. @skateboardman (who at the time I thought might be a big donkeysaid something along the lines of -grab a flat and don't look back-. I thought about that for a weekend in Laredo while getting repairs done prepping for the Mercer inspection. On Monday I called my recruiter and changed my trailer. I haven't looked back toooo much. LOL
All I'm really saying is do what's best for you. None of us are responsible for anyone else's success or failure. Sounds like everyone in KY is just trying to keep you informed of some simple facts. Freight slows in winter, many drivers will sit. Others will adapt. Many FB here pull UPS vans during the winter. Others just keep plucking away or go home for winter.Truckin_Texas91411 and blacklabel Thank this. -
Well I made it to mercertown for orientation. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not at the correct lot. I guess I'll get up in a few hours when everyone starts getting to their offices and asking where I'm supposed to be. Recruiter didn't tell me where to go or what time orientation starts. Baptism by fire.
