57,000 wouldn't be that big of a drop from what I made last year here (or from what it looks like I will be making this year). My wife kinda baulked at the prospect of me taking that large of a cpm cut, but what she doesn't consider is the proverbial 800 lb gorilla in Poly's room, and by that I mean the inevitable long term breakdown where I am stranded for a week or two away from the yard making $0. If there was ever any kind of major breakdown at Big G, it's reassuring to see there would be something coming in.

 

You pay for it....only $60

 

i will never come to BIG G if they are going to steal money from me by making me pay for my own physical.............geesh
cpm is fine but it doesn't feed the chickens
bottom line month to month
and I have never ever discussed or asked for input from the wife
on my job............of course I been married 3 times
so my insight is useless
still i will make $68000 this year never out more then 10 days off 2-3 before i do it again

 

You are right...married 3 times, you don't have a clue as to what marriage means. My wife isn't my employee, my subordinate, or a convenient partner I keep until someone better comes along that'll take half of my paycheck when she is asked to leave. She is a 50% shareholder in the investment in life. WE make decisions and since I am the primary breadwinner in our partnership, I need input from her as to the level we need from my earnings to survive.

As far as a $68k job, what part of the country allows that only working 10 days out of 14?

 

Geez cranky.... i dont remember anyone asking you to come here and no one is stealing money from anyone...

many companies do not pay for d.o.t. physicals

 

I found 2 places here in temple texas that do DOT physicals and they charge 95 and 105 bucks. 60 bucks is a deal !

 

My doctor does mine and i prefer it that way..
better than some company doctor making me go thru a bunch of crap..

 

Even though I have only worked for a half dozen companies in my 22 yrs, I haven't ever been asked to pay, even when I was an O/O leased to a company. But since Big G is an employee owned business, if they did pay, it would be the employee's money they were spending anyway.

 

That's the best way to do it. Your own doctor is familiar with your health and sees changes a company doctor might not notice when they only see you every other year

 

I have paid for mine several times...no big deal....

when you consider what people of other vocations have to pay for their jobs...
i.e. machinists,mechanics,plumbers,carpenters all have to pay for their own tools...
A simple physical is no big deal..plus you can time it with your annual wellness exam and get insurance to pay for it...
