Also if he's going flat don't expect it to happen fast if he's leasing from quality, I've been waiting now 8 weeks for a trailer, so even if he is approved it's going to be a while

I actually am glad their is a nice long waiting list. Keeps the broke guys out. Anyone that is in such a hurry to start running loads today vs being able to wait a while, has so badly mismanaged their business that I'd rather they not be here to pull our reputation down with them.

I'm with @spyder7723 on this one. How is Celedon even an option???? You want sound advice? I think I speak for the majority when I say WAIT FOR MERCER!!! If it's 1,2,3 months before he can get a start date then oh well. BUT if he hasn't started by winter then I'd advise he wait until Feb because with his truck payments and being new it will be tough. Also by waiting he could save some more money and maybe you working a little more you guys can try to have some money stashed away before starting. But I will say I'd try to save or borrow $15k and grab a truck from lone mountain with putting down $5k and having $10k as a cushion although it's a small one.

Huh? What are you talking about spyder? The reason we don't want to wait is because my husband is gone 5-7 weeks working in the oil fields up in North Dakota... He's making enough money, but it has gone down and we just don't feel it's worth it for him to be gone for so long, and with the cost of travel and his expenses while he's up there (cost of living is high up there).

He's talked to guys with Celadon right now, and they are making money as long as they are willing to work, same as any company you lease on with. We just prefer the atmosphere and all that at Mercer, from what we've read on these forums and in talking with drivers. He wants a place where he can start out and learn the ropes, so to speak, and eventually get his own authority. If we were to start at Celadon, it would just be until Mercer was ready for him.

He's saying that the folks that's desperate to work and can't wait or can't afford to wait for that matter. I don't think he's saying every guy in the list is broke

That's an ignorant statement to make... When Mercer started letting guys bring trucks over from Quality they pretty much put a dent in their reputation... Yea rates are down we know but the more trucks your bring on the lower you can drop the rate.. Come on @spyder7723 be a little nicer to the potential newbies.. Don't be that guy

I will say this, y'all don't know me or my husband, so anything I say could just be me blowing smoke up your #####. I get that. But I'm gonna tell you anyway. My husband is an extremely hard worker, takes pride in his work and is a quick learner. There's a reason all of his past companies have told him he's welcome back at any time. There's a reason his current company doesn't want to lose him! In fact, even though he already gave his two weeks notice, he just saved his current company a contract. A new guy screwed up, as new guys that don't take pride in their work tend to do, and my husband busted his butt to fix it and keep the contract. That's just who he is. When, not if, he comes to Mercer and you end up crossing paths with him, you'll see. I am bias, but I'm also honest. :)

No matter what we do, I have 100% faith in my husband and his abilities that we will make it work. :)
