Most of us spend $2600-$3000 on flat equipment. It of course depends on the headache rack and binders that one opts to get. Most could save a few bucks picking up a used headache rack off eBay or Craigslist. But one should expect to spent $1300-$1500 upfront if they are getting everything through the Mercer store. Also most find out they need more then the Min. Requirements pretty fast. At least a few extra straps and stuff.

Headache rack is required, but it doesn't have to be enclosed. It can be just a flat rack.

You won't get out of inspection with out a headache rack on the truck or the trailer. How much research have you done? Where did you get your truck? Mainly what year is it?

I don't know if you read through this thread but it's ideal to have $3000-$5000 on hand when coming up in case anything happens. I don't mean to come off like a ### but how much researching have you done to become a O/O and have you made a business plan prior to even starting?

You sound like an A$&. LOL. But of course you are making an important point.

And as I've been on vacation, but wasn't there a big tado about no more quality trucks or something about two weeks ago? Was that just a rumor?
