Well it's not as good as it looks as I posted it. Haven't picked it up yet but it's some kind of Machinery. It's really only paying $2.38 a mile but it like 3250 miles. 10' wide isn't a real headache. If it was wider I would have probably passed on it. I'm just hoping when I start getting my permits Monday everything goes smooth.

All.ive ever hauled was oversized. D7R dozers are 12ft. Thats a nice pucker factor on the highway...cars flying by you, people SOMEHOW blind to your massive size.

Ok, so I had a guy message me saying that Mercer is unfriendly to owner ops and that you have no freedom and he sits for days waiting for loads... I'm guessing because of the load board? But aren't you able to broker your own loads, too, as long as the brokers are approved by Mercer? I know it's been talked about on here, and I may have been part of that conversation or just read it, but refresh my memory, if you would be so kind. :)

In theory you can book outside freight. But only under very specific conditions. I forget the exact wording but it's gonna be something like no Mercer loads within a full two daysay. And the broker will have to be approved for credit. In other words, it's not ever gonna happen.

I was contacted today by Chris Swank that there will be a flatbed trailer for me for monday, I have declined it. Hopefully this will open it up for you gjcarr03. I own my own truck but I do not have any of the securement equipment, and I'm not about to put myself out that much money right off the bat starting a new company.

    kjoseph and gjcarr03 Thank this.

Had a convo with a guy that was in orientation with me and he said he flirted with the idea of leaving and getting his own authority but once he broke it down he came to the concision that he's not doing super great but still making a decent profit and then I told him that it may not be best loads but it's better than being anywhere else. He also said said that after talking with guys with their own numbers he said comparing his rate per mile be theirs he's doing better even giving up 25%. I'm not sure who messaged you but I'll tell you that he flat out lied about mercer being unfriendly. The drivers lounge is enough proof to me that they care. Go to another all O/O home office and see if their setup compares. And if the guy is sitting for days at a time then that's his fault. Once you learn the system here you know pretty much what the dead areas are. I almost booked a load to Idaho last week. It paid very very well but the shipper moved right before I called on it. Now me knowing how dead Idaho is would it be mercer fault I went there? No! I knew going in I wasn't gonna get a reload. So if I sat it would've been my fault but the way I operate the load paid well enough for me to bounce over 500 miles if I needed to

Okay, let me ask you this... any idea on the freight in TX? We are just outside of the DFW, about 45 minutes south of downtown Fort Worth, so if he wanted to stay in the area, would he do well? He'd like to figure out some sort of triangle, though he's not at all opposed to going wherever the money is. We already know that coming into TX pays well, but getting out sucks. Just an honest opinion. And I'll be honest with you....right now it's between Mercer and Bruenger (reefer). We even made a pros and cons list for both, haha.

We've been leaning towards Mercer the entire time, but haven't 100% committed just because this is a huge and risky decision to make. We just want to make sure we are making the right one. Thanks!

Why apply if you wasn't going to follow through? Not trying to be negative but I'm sure alot of time went into approving you and not to mention holding up other people. I guess each his or her own.
