If you are truly sick enough you can cancel. I've done it. Just don't do it over a little cold or to often. And give them as much notice as possible so they can get the load covered.

Edit to add. Throwing up is sick enough. That's the flu. A flu comes with a fever, and any fever effects your judgement and reaction skills. Bad combination when dealing with 80k pounds at 65 mph.

I believe it's a combination of everything mentioned so far in relation to driving experiance. So I had a short talk with a friend of mine as close being in the "know" as I know. Here are a few things that she mentioned that although they can all be argued I was reminded that insurance companies and trucking companies find it cheaper to group everyone together vise separate by region (a local Denver drive vrs Miami driver). Anyway a few points made right or wrong.

Majority of local drivers don't keep logs.
Don't have to deal with winter driving.
Don't back with a sleeper (no back window?)
    Don't regularly cross scales.

A few more points where made but one thing she did say was that many "local" drivers could claim to drive "regional" if they kept a logbook and could get their companies to catagoize them that way too. Somehow that can count as OTR. even if they only slept in hotels a few times a month. Like I said, there is tons to argue about, but it is what it is.

I was working 20 miles of the warehouse a lot of times but regardless every driver had to keep a log and also we crossed scales a few times. I will say that yea the local guy in Denver is way ahead of me in the snow driving part. And every local driver that I know and talked to all had logs. Backing with a sleeper I'd laugh at that part. I've had to blindside back around a drive thru with a sleeper and 48ft trailer with cars parked on both sides just to get around to the back door. But either way I think they need to reconsider the requirements. I've got 3 buddies that wanna buy their own trucks but hesitant about getting their authority since they don't have recent OTR exp although that's how majority of us started.

When you start putting more miles on your pickup than your truck, it's a good feeling

Yes it is. I got home September 3rd, and didn't leave until last Monday and was back Thursday at lunch time. Don't leave out again till this Thursday.

But to be honest, I got so many projects at home I think I need to stay out a little longer this time just to catch up on my rest. Its funny that I work harder on my off days than I do on my working days

Speaking of projects, my trailer is 40 miles away, can anyone measure their tool box on the trailer for me. I know they are 24 inches deep, and 60 long but can't remember the height. I'm building an organizer of sorts to keep them a little neater inside.
