I have not been in the I 5 port of entry(portland) in a year. They have truck bypass sign there so i always bypass it no matter what sign says. I run by it at least 3 times a week and they have never come after me.I dont think they know what the bypass sign is saying its random.Or they don't care.

It depends on whether they have a cruiser to chase you down. Yeah, they have the roadside sensors to know what goes on up there, and yeah, they will chase you down.

I think their budget for folks to chase you down is rather limited, but I have seen trucks pulled over just past the scales on the eastbound side.

Every once in awhile they will keep the bypass sign on the " truck must exit" so they know that every truck should be entering the scale house and they will put a DOT officer on the north side past the scale. If anyone passes they know you've ran the scale and they will pull you over. Not to often though.

I am a new driver (1 year OTR eastern european in a white Volvo,i mention it as i know some of you have issues with us lol).Anyway, last week got ticket for FAIL TO STOP AND WEIGH in North Platte NE.It was late night and i don't think anybody was there other than state trooper sitting in his cruiser .Still ,the sign was saying TRUCK MUST EXIT.I ignored and he went after me.$50 fine and $48 court fees.I am just gonna pay it.Oh and i didn't exit because i was 300 pounds over on trailer axle.

what is up on heading to 495 from Jersey. Just before 495 all trucks from all lanes enter and you basically drive a bit to find it and follow signs past an old building and I never see scales then each truck exits to whichever interstate ramp they need to get on. It has a lot of room for parking also. My location may be a bit off but sure you know what I am talking about.

Well, that proves you are new lol, 300 is nothing, when I use to pull containers I was atleast 500 over and dot didn't care. Once it hit around a thousand, well that's when I gotta count my money to make sure I can pay the fine.

Yeah from today's perspective it wasn't very wise but I checked some threads on this forum before i left truckstop and some posts scared me.couldn't do anything about this 300 lb because punks loaded me way more than was on BOL and i weighted only next day some 450 miles from shipper as i trusted BOL and my limited experience.
