I agree it is unusual unless the company suspected the op. of drug use. I've taken many randoms but always while working.

It sucks that your company called you at home. But legally you refused. You are screwed. Now you have to either go to rehab or give up driving.

Getting a drug test now with a hair sample may help you explain/defend your situation. That test would cover the period in question and then some. The first inch and a half will give at least a 90 day window. While the hair sample is not random it will give a conclusive result covering the time in question and then some ...

They did what the law requires. Sorry but we were local and along with many others you think that OTR is the only type of truck driving. Nothing against you just you haven't been exposed to other types of trucking. And there are thousands of different types.

Just for general clarification the report window from notification to report to the clinic is TWO HOURS.

To the OP you don't specify you level of experience but I would venture it is not much. Like stated above put this in your memory bank and put it to good use in the future.

You're definitely right about not having a clue. After 25 years of local, regional and OTR if I had a clue I wouldn't be driving a truck now would I? LOL

When I worked for Pepsi, the boss would drive us to the clinic and back when we got hit for a sample.

    Yep.

I ran a bay truck back in 2007 or so. I got hit with a random in the middle of summer....relief driver filled in until the clinic opened, manager drove me to the clinic, got the results, met up with the relief driver and took the truck for the rest of the shift.

I've merged threads on this topic started by the OP in three different forums. If anyone notices any redundancies, that's the reason.
