How does A&A leasing process work? -
I have been with A & A as a lease operator since may if 2014. I can answer a few questions I found in this thread.
1) Regarding independent escrows Karen Anderson will be happy to set one up with you for things like maintenance, to cover payments etc. She will ask for a fixed amount to be deducted weekly as opposed to a per mile amount.
2) In the event of catastrophic break downs the company will pay for the repairs. They will recover as much as they can as quickly as they can unless you take the initiative to work out a weekly payment plan with Tim
3) Trucks that are offered are just what happens to be available at the time. Could be anything from 2013 kw t660 to brand new Volvo 670s
4) freight is definitely cyclical. Lanes will move further south as harvest season gets later. We generally run west coast to upper Midwest/central us. Schwann's account will occasionally have you seeing the east coast and averages around 1.30
5) the dispatchers will do their best to preplan you as long as you take the iniative and call the region's dispatcher a day or two in advance. If not, you could be sitting for a bit for them to find your next load. Your experience here will definitely be what you make it.Potosiguy, thaistick, BlackCherry and 1 other person Thank this. -
I must confess I don't know much about the CD side. The lease process is fairly standard. Your weekly payment and potential balloon depends on the truck. The other payments are as the OP stated. The major exception is that maintenance will be up to you. You will have to plan and budget accordingly (especially if you get one of the older trucks). Any warranties available to the truck will certainly help but it's up to you for sure.

One other thing to note is that any new hires after Jan 2015 are on mandatory elogs regardless of experience. You will be charged for you unit, and it has a monthly fee (forgive me the exact amount escapes me at the moment)

I'm currently on elogs and I'm in a 2014 Volvo 670. So that won't be changes there and I'm running on the reefer side as well as I pickup/deliver produce from central California at least once every week and half and run 48 states. Most mid west too. Currently in the upper Midwest right now. So there no learning curve in those areas.

Can't speak to the other branches of RoadRunner, I honestly don't know. Those of us at A & A who were hired before 1/1/15 were given a choice. I went back to paper after a month.
