I knew you were an old timer but 27 years here? To those not at Mercer that should say everything.

27 years is a long time!...a double salute goes to that man. There is a lot of griping out there about mercer from guys who don't even have a third of this man's time at mercer. I know everybody's financial situations an comfortabilities vary but when you've been there that long I think I will take my chances at listening to him

Nah. If you include loading and tarping I probably average ten hours a day while I'm out on the road. my problem is getting out on the road. I only worked five months this last year, and six the year before. It's just tough to get motivated to leave the house when Mercer doesn't care how long i take off. And when I do leave, I know I will have absolutely no problem knocking out 500 after fuel minimum for every day I'm away from the house. mercer made me lazy. before I came here I ran over 120k miles every year minimum, and many years it was over 150. Since coming here I barely hit 50k a year. Once my kids are older I'll go back to work full time, but while they are young I'm just more interested in being home with them.

thats about it, the only things with e log might be stopping someplace different than o prefer. i have for the last number of weeks been practicing and running just like i had an elog, frankly it has helped my mercerized behind , lol. really no difference much , had to drive a bit faster than my normal 62 mph a couple of times, i wish now i would have them put in for free at my last inspection

Well, let's see if TA/Petro do the right thing. I got an alignment done preventatively at the beginning of November. I had no abnormal wear, the truck wasn't pulling, just wanted to get it done because I was at 75k miles. I have taken nearly a month off and have only ran 15k miles since I had the alignment, it seemed to be pulling a little immediately, but I was in some high winds and wasn't sure. Now that the holidays are done and I'm actually focused on work again, it is definitely pulling, and so much so, it has eaten through the outside of my right steer. I know some of you guys say not to go to them for alignments and I'm starting to see why. I had the same thing happen a little over a year ago, but figured it was a 1 time thing. I'm curious if they try to fix their mistake or if they just say sucks to be you have a nice day we don't need your business anyway.

Btw, I know it's my fault for not catching it sooner, but it's warrantied for 30 days, which should be 20k miles. I've only ran 15k in 60 days. That particular TA isn't going to warranty it, but the one I stopped at said they would if it were their work order since I clearly didn't drive much. Maybe corporate will, if not oh well, last time I get them to do it.

The bag part isn't the waste of money on the alignment. It's the irreversible damage to the tires. Once a tire starts to wear bad, even if you correct the mechanical issue. That tire will continue to wear bad at an accelerated pace.

Edit to add: you really don't need to do "preventive" alignments. Once a good alignment is done, a truck won't pull itself out of alignment. unless you develop a suspension part failure/wear type of thing.

The problem is, technically the warranty is out. It's crap, but it's what it is. TA doesn't care if they lose a one truck owner as a customer.
