The XE is adapting how the Europeans have been gearing trucks for some time. Lower cruise rpm, around 1100-1300.

Probably because ceramic filters are a bit more proven.

I have beat this subject in the ground here on TR. I still don't get it why people think speed is so #### important I have drove fast trucks, very fast trucks at that I have drove triple digit trucks I have drove trucks that couldn't pull itself out of a hat. and I now drive a 65mph truck. sept. of 2016 will make 25 years out here for me.guess what? I have yet to make anymore money or get anywhere any faster in one of those large cars than what I'm driving now. why? because traffic flow on todays hiways won't allow you to maintain a average speed of more than 65 mph @ best by days end. even running out west. and I can't tell you how many times a day one of those large fast units have past me in a days time jumping off and jumping back on the interstate just as I'm going by. so tell me one more time what the heck do you gain from driving fast. you take your fast truck at .36/cpm i'll keep my 65mph @ .50/cpm truck and keep going to the bank to deposit more money..... BE OUT OF YOUR WAY IN A MINUTE SWIFT TRYING TO GET BY KNIGHT.

You right..law of averages always wins....not so much about speeding as it is being able to get out of or even preventin an unpleasant circumstance.

Take, for example, when ur aware enough to let a driver merge from the rest area on ramp and u get in the fast lane, and he merges but sticks u there and ur both doing 65...so here I am pacing him wanting to get back over but he won't slow down to let me over...why the hell should I have to slow down to get behind him?

It's drivers like him that make me thankful everyday that my truck is wide open.

I've had my truck up to 82 mph, in an 80mph zone in South Dakota, however I get an over speed alarm if the truck is operated at 74 or higher for longer than 60 seconds. I'm failing to see the correlation between speed and MPG's. I run 2,492 miles per week and 1300 of those miles are empty. My truck gets 6.9 mpg and the biggest factor effecting mpg is loaded vs empty. I got the same mileage in my previous truck that ran 67 mph.

I don't run in packs and can't stand getting all bunched up with 4 trucks running 2 mph slower. For years I just got in line and dealt with it as opposed to spending 15 minutes passing a line of vehicles. It's very nice to have the ability to pass the congestion while maintaining the flow of traffic in the left lane.

    Infuriating, isn't it ?

They're bone heads. It happens all day long, every day.

    You have two choices..
    1) be the bigger one and back out of it and get behind... and even though you he wouldn't let you PASS HIM , you'll be constantly having to back off to avoid catching up and tailgating. Amazing how that works, right ??

    2) Stick right there where you are... ticking off all the 4wheelers that have come ripping up behind you at 90mph because they see you have the "radar zone" covered... until you catch the next line of traffic and can flick him off like a flea.

That's the one he deserves. But, if you're like me you won't do it because it's not right and you have a conscience.

I just got my first governed SLOW truck this week (68) and had to start dealing with all this now. It's not as bad as I THOUGHT it would be because most are running 65, but I still don't jump out there with an F'm attitude and block traffic. I try to pick my spots.

Adieu, CorsairFanboy and thejackal Thank this.

Well I can to an extent see your point but we are not ll like that. Some of us actually know what professional curtousy is. If I get over to let you on....BTW you are suppose to yieid to me I was already on the road I have the right of way. But if I get over for you, show some professional curtousy in return and let me back over. THEN if you can move faster than I,come around me. If I see you are struggling to get by I will back out of it and let you go on...why should I have to slow down for you? Well I will tell you... That is the difference between being professional and just being another steering wheel holder..., but to most of you out there professional driver is just another buzz word

I can't count the number of times I've backed out of it to let someone pass...is nice when that happens for me.
