Good grief, the last i was on here i think it was only about 600 pages. Stopped in to see what the general concensus of the troops was on elds is. Louisville thinks everyone loves them and i

Wow! ! Earlybird, C'mon man, break those sentences up, and use the period. It's Making my head hurt!
You guys wanting to run your own truck,PLEASE!! Don't get into one of those $660 a week recipes for disaster! Youre talking $4000 before you pay cell phone, house payment , car etc. Keep your total payments, TOTAL, no more than 4k. Truck, trailer, pick-up, car, house, electric, everything.
Buy the cheapest fld you can find. Run the snot out of it for the first year or so. If you end up putting some bucks in it along the way, so what, ya didn't pay a lot to start with.Get a wagon through Mercer, it's not a bad deal to get rolling.
Try to gather up as much of your own equipment as you can. Craigslist, whatever.
You get the first year under your belt, then you have an idea what you can safely afford.
And if you don't know what a 2290 is, you have a lot more research to do. Any question you can think of, someone has already asked and answered on one of these forums. This single thread here is a wealth of information alone.
Whew! Ok, I'm done. Bloviator......

If someone extended you a line of credit, why take such a unfavorable deal from Quality? In order to obtain a unsecured line of credit, I would assume you would have no problem getting a secured loan at more favorable terms from a dealership. Is it the fact that Quality has a walk away clause?spyder7723 Thanks this.

I tried getting a Penske rental once....
$5000 security deposit plus credit check....
I said "this load can wait til my truck is fixed!"
Before I give them 5k I'll go an put that down on a new truck -
First, I am happy that you found a truck. I didn't realize you planned on pulling a van but when I think about it you probably mentioned it.
The Cascadia should treat you well. I had 1.2m on mine with no major problems also they get the best fuel mileage out there which in the end can do nothing but help you. Now that your set get to Louisville and get those wheels turning. I know you have received a bunch of negative comments but if it can been done with a van then it can be done here at Mercer. Just grab the coat tails of those doing it right and learn all you can. Look forward to buying you lunch one day and hearing about your success here.
I have met 2-3 including Razor. I think only one on the Van side. Didn't Razor start with vans too and make the move over the spring/summer? Guys I should just ask @Razorwyr LOLTruckin_Texas91411 Thanks this. -
Can anyone tell me how much DEF they normally burn per say 100 gal of DSL? I was at about 3.7 gals per 100 gal of fuel, but I just bought 210 gals of fuel and drove off without getting any DEF (not really on purpose just not in the habit of pumping that stuff). I'm not worried about running out as I have a 23 gal tank but it's still showing full and normally (the 3 previous tanks I've put in here) it's at 3/4 before I fill up on fuel.
-
On mine I have gotten as low as 186mpg and as high as 308mpg. I normally fill my DEF every other fill up of fuel. About every 2500 miles I put in 10-13 gallons of DEF.kjoseph and CJndaTruck Thank this.

Cj, it might be a good idea to carry a couple jugs of that cow urine until it becomes habit to top it off every time you get fuel.
Edit to add: sorry about earlier, after the call dropped yet again I just gave up. -
That sounds about right. Just seems to be increasing (for the better). I just put in my 4th tank of fuel so don't really have a baseline yet. As its DEF is new to me i thought I would ask. Thanks.
-
Lol I have a 23 gal tank. It has all kinds of warning before she gets to low. I'm more asking because I don't really have a baseline yet. At least I know my fuel mileage will be poor while I break her in. LOL and that's at 7MPG average since I picked it up. Not bad considering all my loads have at least started at 45k and I have been hitting the hills hard. It will be nice to see what it does once I go back to my light loads and just cruising.
