So the delivery I just did, left a ton of trash in the trailer. Plastic wrap and these cardboard bags that were used to cushion in between pallets. About 6 of them.
They wouldn't let me use the trash can to dispose of this stuff and kicked me off property.
I'm a mile from my next pickup and know they will inspect the trailer at the gate.
Where does one dispose of this type of stuff?

Tell them that you will use a designated area with a trash bin to clean the rest of their load out properly, or you will simply sweep it out on the lot.
As Bakerman said, it is part of their load. They should actually clean everything like that out.
I don't expect them to sweep out the trailer, usually. But packing material and broken pallets and such is their responsibility.Giuseppe Ventolucci Thanks this. -
Got it. Next time this happens I will ask for a dumpster to back up to, or dump it at the guard shack before I leave.
Works for me. -
I've seen drivers pull outside the gate then park beside the curb and dump it on the street. That's better than parking on the back row at a truckstop and sweeping it out on truck stop property.

I don't leave the dock till they get it out.

Hate to say it... you see this a lot. Everything in that trailer that is not a securement device (straps, K bars, load locks) is theirs. They are responsible for removal and disposal.
If you're an O/O you can work a disposal fee into your contract (if you wanna hassle with it). If you're never gonna see them again, give them the option of cleaning it off the truck or off the ground in front of the dock.
I have left receivers with trash in the trailer- but only with a disposal fee in my pocket. Cash only, bub.
I've asked nicely at truck stops, many will take unbroken pallets off your hands (worth about 3$ each) for free and let you use their dumpster for the rest. Ask the manager first, though. Some dumps have big truck turn arounds, but they almost all charge a fee.
If the receiver doesn't pay the disposal fee, it doesn't leave the property. My fee varies on how much of a jerk they've been.
