I use the free camscanner. convert to pdf and email back to myself. compile all the pdf's together in one email and forward them to my tax guy. if it is a pod, pdf it and email it to the broker.

it also has a fax feature.

forgot to mention, a couple of times my company said I was missing logs, go through my logs and find the one(s) missing, take a quick picture and pdf/email it to them in 3 minutes. One time they had auditers in the office looking at records, they asked me to send my logs for the last three days (was on a new trip so normally those logs wouldn't go in til the trip was ended) because the auditor wanted to see everything to the end of the quarter (evidently I was one of the drivers they picked to go over my logs with a fine toothed comb).

i take pics of my maintenance reports and receipts and email it to the maint dept every month as well.

That's not per month, its a one time fee.

I, for one, will always pay a small fee to not see ads in an app.

I use the Google Drive app. Does a good job at scanning and making into pdf's, also allows me to save it to my Google Drive so I can access it from any Internet connected device or computer. Google gives you 15gb free I belive. Plus you can actually create a folder that can be shared with specific people so they can access the files as well and it's very easy to email from.

I second this. I uploaded all my important documents at home into Google drive like w9, insurance certificate, MC authority etc then download the app on your smartphone and have access to them anywhere and email them to anyone with a few taps.

I'm a dinosaur and use a Canon all-in-1 printer with an actual scanner and a laptop. I have just never really adapted well to mobile operating systems and phone/tablet apps. I do have mobiles for a backup solution, but will probably never move to that as a primary method to do electronic paperwork.

I also have set up in in my truck now a Neat Scanner that with a 50 page document feeder and double sided scanning hooked up to my laptop, so now I just drop everything on there the moment I get a document or receipt and just scan it in really quick. Having the scanner like that helps as well because I have the transflow program on my laptop and can scan everything in at the same time :)

You can pick up one of the Neat Scanners on amazong for under $200. Well the worth that investment for your business.

Many ways to skin a cat around here!

I'm with @RedForeman on the staying with the laptop.

I've been using a Brother DS620 for scanning think it was $75.

Recently put $35 all in one from Walmart (Cannon MG2520 ) in the truck. Ended up spending another $10 for the USB cable to use it. Gives me print capabilities and a back up scanner....

I keep a brother scanner/printer in the truck but it would be rare for me to actually use it. In the time it takes me to set up and boot it I can be long done with using an app on my phone to make a pic of a POD into a PDF. It takes less than a minute versus 5 or 10 the old way. I'm all about laziness and doing more in less time.

Opposite for me. On mine I just have to turn it on, set the paper in it, and run the scan app on my laptop. Wifi connection and the printer stays in one spot plugged in all the time. I'd waste more time taking cell phone pictures, cropping, and stitching up pdf pages.
