Yup. In Florida now. Truck is running great. I didn't want too take any chances with the snow. So I booked some so so loads.

If you take time off (say two weeks for example) are you allowed to hold a Landstar trailer hostage?

Thats false.. Seen many a driver on the LS facebook page complaining about drop and hook where there was no hook.lol.. We have a dept that helps in locating a trailer but ive heard of it taking over a week in some instances.

When i first started they wouldnt attempt to take yours from you for 17 days. I was home about 23 days once and they called the same day i booked a load. Before the holiday season this year they lowered it to 10 days. At xmas time i was home 18 days and never heard from them, busy time was over i assume.. It depends on where you live. Usually its new hires they send on trailer expeditions, so im guessing they dont like to send them deep into Florida where i am if they can find one in a busier lane. If they come take your trailer, when you are ready to go they will locate you another and pay you $0.63 a mile to go to it.

Has nothing to do with it. I was asked a question...and arguing the side of why live loads aren't always bad....and how an empty search...even 10 miles away is counterproductive to my business model

But I also made the mistake of arguing that side with you because I forgot that you knew everything.

It's cool, I was speaking about the other side of the equation as you were.
Heck, four pages ago I agreed saying you could get screwed with both drop and hooks and live loads and thought it was done with.
It's a shame people can't share their experiences and opinions here still.
Everybody's experience and opinion matters because it gives a broader view and nobody knows everything.
Obviously I don't know everything because I thought we all moved past this.

You hit a nerve when you made that comment. Nothing more. It's all good.

Well I want you to know that I do value you and your thoughts, it is welcome here and I've learned things I didn't know before thanks to some of what you've shared.
What just happened I think was just a misunderstanding, that's all.
