There are a list of issues to discuss. I will make everything public when the time is appropriate, but for now it's simple casual discussions. I hate doing this stuff over the phone or via email. I'm a face to face type of negotiator, so to speak. Hoping to get to yard end of the week.

They could be testing a new one, doing a review, or a comparison

Hey Steel! Aminal here. If you need some solid data in your fight, I just closed last year's books and though you and I have disagreed on some points in the past, I think it would be a fair characterization to say we both have a very healthy respect for each other's data and ability to be profitable. So you can take my data to the bank as accurate and your JCT creds with the Brass and maybe parlay it into some better paid miles for us. Here goes:

Last year (calendar year) I ran 149,981 total HUB miles. I was paid an average (arithmetic mean AVG of total income/ total miles - total income included ALL reimbursements ((keep in mind I'm an LLC so I have to keep a General Ledger differently than a straight up 1099 - I have to post the reimbursement as income and the expense reimbursement even though they wash, kinda gives a false high on the income side when doing THIS type of calculation but not on the profit/loss side.)) OF . . . $1.11/ mile. (total income and reimbursement/ total miles.) BUT I was only paid a grand total of 129,839 miles. That's a 20,142 mile difference; which at a false HIGH AVG rate per mile of $1.11/ mile = $22,306.07 I got shorted. That's a 13.5% uncompensated mileage variance.

DUDE!! Unless this is someone's first couple years in Trucking; we ALL know we don't get paid for all the miles we drive but that's (13.5% UCV) like the old Household Movers Guide UCV we all ate back in the day. I been doin' this 18 years now and have great routes (agree w/ most of yours BTW), and know how to minimize UCV very well (when E-Log permits - sometimes I need fastest route vs shortest route. Fastest isn't always shortest - got that). Sometimes I miss my turn and add miles to the HUB. Sometimes a couple hundred miles was the closest they could get me to home when I wanted to be home (I only went home 3 times last year on hometime though - the rest were coincidental drive-throughs and a coincidental 10h break). That adds miles to the HUB. Sometimes I bobtail down the street cause I don't feel like sleeping at Tyson (or wherever) which adds HUB miles: but I PROMISE you MY added HUB mileage isn't anywhere NEAR half;! but even if it WAS and I ate that as MINE . . . $10K ? C'mon!!

We have so many folks saying we need higher mileage pay. I very respectfully disagree and I say we need more accurate paid mileage. I'm nicely profitable at our current rate/mile. I just want the mileage to be more accurate. A $10K raise per year would be REAL nice. Then again, I AM a Businessman. $10K x 700 drivers is $7M straight off JCT's bottom line per year w/ NO compensatory revenue stream: so I can see why John, Danny and Darryl might not jump at tightening up our paid mileage. Tightening up our paid miles is MUCH more important to me than increasing the $0.90 CPM base rate.

Lastly - before anyone jumps in and gets all "wiggy" about this: I AM JCT!! I AM HERE FOR THE DURATION OF MY DRIVING CAREER!! They have NEVER lied to me or cheated me!! What I DON'T like about JCT is just what I don't like about Trucking and Reefer Freight ANYWHERE. I make good money, because I am great at minimizing expense. Fence jumpin' for a recruiter's promised penny here and there don't get'cha nothin' but sore feet and hard feelings! JCT is mighty fine folks. For sure!!! This is just a little internal "water cooler" talk. That's all. JCT is STILL the place to BE!! Just some chat amongst friends to make it even better!! That's all!

By the way: Hi everyone. Nice to be back hangin' in the forum a bit. Mrs. Aminal and I have been building the Ranch quite nicely. She's hangin' w/ me in the truck for a few. We needed some re-kindlin' of the kindlin' if ya get my drift. Prolly stayin' out as long as I was might not have been the best thing for our relationship. Yeah. Sure was nice for the old bank accounts, though. She's gonna hang w/ me til late Summer. Even NICER for the bank accounts! We're at a good pause point on Ranch building. I'd say more about her ridin' trail w/ me but it's a "G" rated forum and learning to both consolidate into Freightshaker space is a thread entirely to itself!! LOL.

Have a good one everyone and Steel; Mileage tightening over rate raise is my VERY solid vote and thanks for all you do with us w/ the Brass.
