@jacquesi23 sorry to hear about you Phoenix experience. As I live there I know how hard it can be to load out of there. I generally only go there if I have a pre plan or plan on spending 1-2 weeks at the house where I don't have to worry and can just let my coordinator look out for me.

Right now it's not only Phoenix but most (all) of the west coast. I know a few people have come out here only to sit on the FB side a lot more then normal. I thought I tried to warn everyone a week or two ago but I guess I did a poor job. LOL

Anyway, talk about a messed up day for me. After spending the last day and a half hanging out with my son in SF I decided to work the board for an hour this morning. I'm at it for 15 mins and a fair to good (pretty good with rates as they are) load pops from near my house in WA to out east loading the end of next week. I grab it and am dispatched on it in moments. Great except I'm in SF and I have a week + to get home and grab that load, normally a ton of time but I'll be the first to admit freight is slow out here. Well knowing the lanes out here helped me with this next part. At least knowing the two areas that are sure to get me to one of my houses. So I book a load for today going to ID with the intention of bouncing to SLC to get home. Bam, Dispatched! Look at SLC and sure enough there is a load to WA just like I expected for Monday. Commit, dispatched! (That rate stunk but served my purpose). What, 30 mins and everything falls in place? Way to good to be true. So I get ready and head to Lodi for my pickup. Half way there my phone rings, sure enough I'm being told that the load I poured 30 min into setting up and was going to finally get me off the west coast just cancelled.

    GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!

Oh well, I guess I'll just sit at the house. I have a ton of firewood I need to burn anyway.

Gotta be quicker than that! Lol.
Don't u just love when you paint a masterpiece an one little color splash destroys the whole painting! Lol

    Add to post:
I usually try to stay one to two loads ahead of myself. As a former independent I learned my lesson really fast about booking 4-5 even 6 loads at a time.
If load number 3 crashes u can either try to find a filler or you're pretty much screwed on the rest OR you can just accept the loss you're gonna take an try to eat some of the deadhead.
I've even had a broker to call me back an say "hey if u need to cancel I can change your load date til tomorrow"
I reply " no I actually need to cancel the load all together because I'm not gonna drive 600 miles to get it!" Lol

LOL. Well I can't complain too much. It was the last load that cancelled not a middle one, although it was the one that I was going to have a good profit margin on and not just do better then break even. And it wasn't until next Friday anyhow so I have tons of time to replace it. Just the way it works sometimes. Life goes on. Who knows it could be a blessing. Although I would have got a good check it wasn't one of the money loads I'm use to. Not sure they exist anymore but if they do maybe one will show itself in the next week. LOL. Let's all hold our breath.

I thought you meant the first load in the chain. At least it was the last one and not the first one.

Nope. If I had a choice I would have been fine with the load out of SLC falling through. I ended up giving that one up anyhow. I probably should have kept it but I was angry and that's not the best time for me to make choices.
