I have to be home weekly. I've got 2 kids that already miss their mom enough as it is. Loads into Denver will just have to happen.

On my first day I was told to scale every load going to CA or NV in the first hole (40') because I would be responsible for the rework if it got out there and wasn't legal.

Dispatch shouldn't have told him to roll with it. Unfortunately unless he recorded the call, he's in the wrong of the eyes of the people who matter. I wouldn't blame him one bit if he started seeking other work.

It's like 65 in Indiana all over again...

If he had made sure the load was legal befor He took it to the railyard, would he be having any problems? He was 2000 over on his drives, or did you skip that part?
He also posted a picture of the cat scale ticket online which shows the whole planet that he knew it was illegal and he ran it 'because he was told to'. Give me a break. The second he headed away from the scale to the rail yard instead of taking that load back, he deserves any consequences from his actions may bring.

Had the load been made legal and if he had a cat scale proving it, would he have ANY problems proving that he was not at fault in anyway and that nothing could be pinned on him. Driver B didn't protect his license and it bit him. Driver A didn't protect his license and it bit him.

    Answer that!

And everybody saying to move 5th wheel. Idk but I'm not that sure moving your 5th wheel can move 2k. Then again I only moved it once in my life

It depends on the 5th wheel. Some move 500lbs a notch, Some 250. But to be honest if you put both of them side by side, I couldn't tell you the difference between the two as to why one is 500 and the other 250

The difference has to do with the type of fifth wheel, some have fewer holes than others, hence the discrepancy. Weight movement per hole can also depend on the length of the frame and its position on it.

Thanks! I've noticed that on some the matches themselves are a different size, does this contribute as well?

Yes. The larger or wider the notch, the more weight is transferred because the farther the fifth wheel has to travel to line up with the next hole. Usually the large notch is roughly 500 lbs. The small notch is 200-300 lbs.
