If you need the truck you are passing to flash you before you move over, stop, get out of the truck and go home. If you can't tell when it is safe to pass without a signal from another driver you don't know what you are doing. Never trust what you are doing to someone else, It would be dumb to do so.
Example. It is night and raining, lets say I drive a POS truck and a Swift rookie overtakes me and i want a new truck, I'll flash him too soon, he moves over and takes the nose off my truck. He looses his job and I get a new truck. Thanks so much. Want to trust me now?

I can see both sides. You'd like to do the guy a favor by slowing down, but then some jerks end up slowing you down after passing. What I do is, I don't slow down until they've demonstrated that they're all about it, until I see that their cruise control is probably on or their speed is consistent. Then I will slow down a couple MPH. I do it in two parts. I drop one MPH until they're almost clear of me, and then for my own protection one more MPH to get them clear of me (since some guys will come back over too early and almost take you out).

I let guys pass all day every day. It costs nothing. The exceptions being going up or downhill or when I have to move over to let another rig merge into traffic.
Last week I moved over to let an old dominion idiot merge. He topped out before I was able to get around him safely and then he decided to drag race me down the highway instead of backing off for 2 seconds and letting me get back over.
I'm governed at 63 he may have been governed at 63.5. At any time I could have killed my throttle and dropped back but that would have just made things worse as it didn't take long for traffic to stack up behind us both. I would have totally disrupted both lanes had I done that so I just held steady and waited to get up to a slow moving Crete and use him as a pick and scrape this jackhole off.
By the time we roll up to Crete my nose is about even with his tanks and I had him boxed in. He saw it coming for miles but wanted to play his game. He backed off the throttle and as I coasted by that turd was giving me the double bird. Really dude? You did this to yourself.
I am aware of my limitations and I try and be professional and courteous. I would have been been happy to be the guy who had to back off for Crete had he allowed me to get back over. I'm not going anywhere fast and I know it. I'm a turtle and turtles do what they have to do to keep it safe and move along. I wish more guys would wake up to that fact instead of trying to be the guy who gets to the skillet 3 seconds before me but 3 hrs after every o/o on the road.scottied67 Thanks this. -
I'm the driver that doesn't care what other drivers are doing I will drive my truck and you drive your truck if I want to pass you to go 1mph faster so I can get there 2 minutes ahead of you then put on an audio book and mind your own buisness.

This happened today coming eastbound into Amarillo TX. Speed limit drops from 75 to 60 which is what I was doing and all these truckers race on into the cone zone past 3 signs saying Left Lane Closed Ahead nearly wrecking me out.

And again, it would not take two miles if one would be courteous and back off two mph.
Truckers constantly complain about the courtesy of communicating one is clear after passing by using their lights... What's the big deal of being courteous in this case.
But to each their own, I will gladly do so and I think those passing, both CMV and four wheelers will appreciate that too.

Why can't we both go 60 with you following at 8 seconds back? I guess in some guys twisted thinking if they go 62 and I have to slow up to 58 we are still averaging 60 miles per hour through the universe so it's all good.
