Did Werner tell you anything about family dollar or dollar general accounts? You unload your own trailer and many if not most the places you deliver to have extremely tight backing. So if you do decide on Werner I would suggest requesting a trainer that's on one of those accounts.

Try food service like sysco or us food. Or pop like PepsiCo or coke cola
Beer company might help too -
Most companies want some kind of schooling as for Pepi's and big local companies they you need a year experience try a small company due to insurance those big companies won't even look at ur app

Is there local/regional work that is drop & hook, or is it mostly something where the driver must unload the trailer at the destination?

Jb hunt told me I didnt pre qualify because I didn't have at least 3 months experience....let me Know if it differs for you please as they seem good

What area of the country are you in? Do you live close to a city? Schneider is a good call. I used to be a trainer for Knight Transportation in their Squire program. Solid program usually can be home weekends once you get passed training and are on your own. Alot depends on your proximity to terminals or dedicated accounts. I know of jobs here in NC that are local home every night hiring straight out of school.

I'm in Texas (San Antonio).

Well youre in Texas and in a large city. You should have zero problems finding something. There are other routes besides the big name companies. Try Averitt Express or companies that haul LTL freight locally. I know averitt hires out of school. There is a Walmart DC in New Braunfels. Ask the big companies you call if they have a walmart dedicated account. Texas is trucking heaven. If you dont end you finding something to your immediate liking, do at least a year with whoever you pick. Dont job hop. This will help once youre experienced and are applying for the job you really want. Fyi Ive never heard any good stories out of Werner. If somebody is telling you that youre gonna be making 50k your first year out of school theyre most likely lying.bcgarcia87 Thanks this.
