Is it a law that you need proof to show the LEO, he/she needs permission to ride ? Since when? And if they are illegal, what do you care ? If they get busted, you say your side of the story and the passenger will say there side. I know for a fact that your suppose to carry some kind of form of I.D. always and presented if any kind of authority ask for it.

I'm wondering, who leaves his ID at home when he leaves? That might make an interesting story.
Leave the house to go to work, but leave your wallet with all your money and ID at home?

And did he go back to get it?

I can understand not doing so in a day to day job. But driving a truck, especially OTR, is much different.

If its a coworker and the boss gave you permission , i would do it and not think twice. When my kids were younger they would occasionally ride with me in the summer and they had no identification. I did carry an authorization form saying they could ride any time, but in all those years i was never asked to show that paper.

I got pulled in west bound Van Meter, IA. The company is mine, but the tractor and trailer were not. I had my son as a helper. He had to show his id to show he does not have cdl.
