TIPZ- Tip trailer lease
Any others? Beeen awhile Last Railvan I pulled was in like 1995
Then everything went to clumsy COFC 53' garbage (domestic)

see first three violations. exactly what my friends got cited fore, most notably #2. you also get slapped with an OOS on top of the violation but they lift the OOS once you ziptie it.. lol -
If zipties are supposedly required, why then are zipties not specified?
striker, Studebaker Hawk and DsquareD Thank this. -
The equipment is designed to be secure without a 5 cent zip tie if properly maintained. -
-
I had pins fails even with zip ties but it hold the pieces in place but dangling. With the vibration and spring ride, they could come undone.
Plus how lazy can you be to not put 4 zip ties on? Takes less than a minute -
I could see a regional run but crosstown work every rail wants them off before u come in so like a waste of time and I never see jb hunt guys use them never
-
Oh my Goodness..Doing crosstowns, Used to Love em and Hate em.
"pick up a Realco from Conrail 47th and take it over to The Grand Trunk on 43rd" or "Pick up a Lykes COFC from the Soo Line in Bensenville and Take it over to Southern Pacific on Damen"
Or "pickup a NYK container From the B&O on 79th and take it over to Burlington Northern House 9". -
The non-presence of zipties does not an unsecured load make. The locks not being locked does.
And if they won't stay put, then some work needs to be done to the trailer.Haulin Harry and DsquareD Thank this. -
If a DOT officer asks why you have zties on the chassis, you better answer correctly when up this way.
They are a visual reminder that the pins are locked.
They are not there to secure the can to the chassis.
I have been asked this numerous times in the Northeast area.
And yes all yards in my area of ops requires Zties.Haulin Harry and RERM Thank this.
