Just to clarify on some things:
I have no idea where the load went once he brokered it out. I spoke to soon by saying he gave it to mercer. I stand corrected on that because I have no idea where it went once he sold it. All I know is that mercer ended up with the load an when I met him there he had 3 trucks there getting loaded an told me the only reason I got the load was due to him not being able to get the load on his trucks due to weight. Crane operator even confirmed his story.
This guy said he has been hauling out of this steel mill for 22 years an he pulls loads out of there almost everyday. They send him a load list along with many other carriers, he takes what he wants an what he don't want he brokers it out.

Sure, he gets a load list, but then so does every other carrier they do business with. And yes, we have all pulled in some big money 8 buck a mile loads when a manufacturer is in a bind and the load just has to ship no matter the price. But they are not contract rates, they are spot market emergency rates. No one is shipping stuff for 5 bucks a mile contract rate.

On topic about brokered freight: yes we have brokered freight, and we have direct customer freight. Just like every single carrier. Landstar, bennett, daily, admiral merchant, mercer, tmc, tsh, fikes, btc, and on and on. I fail to see what the point is about brokered freight, unless someone is claiming that is the majority of our freight. In which case they are full of it.

But you're jumping too deep into something that barely scratches the surface.
You explained that nobody is shipping stuff at 5/mike contract rate.
Point out to me where I said this guy had a contract locked down for this customer.
I specifically said he gets a load list just like every other carrier that is setup with this customer...he picks the loads he wants an the ones he doesn't wanna bother with he will take them anyway an broker them out.
You're taking this whole thing an dragging it across the country when it's not even that serious lol.
I don't know what he gets for contract rates...I don't know what he gets on spot freight either...we were speaking of one particular load that he could not do an according to him the load goes down to Tampa Florida once a week an when he gets it he usually brokers it
Just so happened the load ended up with mercer an I ended up pulling it.
An to respond to your statement about the brokered freight I personally think there is much more brokered freight on the board than you would like to think.
Mercer has GREAT paying freight don't get me wrong but more than half of their freight is average load board freight rates.
How do I know this? Because I call an cross reference the same type of freight against theirs an usually they are within .5-.10 cent/mile of one another.

Quick question. Did you ask the guy for his mc # to verify he even had a brokerage, or did you just take his word on it?

My point is very simple, just cause some guy you loaded beside says something, doesnt mean it's true. Truck drivers aren't exactly well known for their honesty.

123, is the mercer rate at 75 per cent, the same as load board rates at 100 per cent. ?? And you can see what the load paid mercer. Look on your settlement, then go in the office, and they will let you see the billing, it will match up.. But honestly you asked where anyone saw you complaining about what a load paid. I simply read your posts, isn't saying you got paid half of what the load paid qualification of that. And again there is a way to pull a load you find on a loadboard, just run it thru An agent, a simple process. And a load thru a 3pl logistics is much different than rebrokering. And why can't the steel mill or carrier be named. And Ga to Tampa the rate should be a little higher. I pulled 5 loads out of savvanah,Ga that paid 250.00 a mile toad they went 3 miles.

Hey now! Why's it gotta be the blue star? I'll tell ya what though, I'll reactivate my broker mc and go in with ya on the $5 steel mill freight. Nice low mc in the 5's too!

Tag the link where this was stated if you don't mind...an before we turn this into a bashing session let clear the air an say mercer is a great company but no where does it state or has it been mentioned they are very prominent in the southeast.
If you can explain to me why I have to drive 200+ miles from my house to find a load I will be more than happy to hear your explanation. Everybody wants to argue about everything other than my original concern. TYPICAL
