It's not about the $. I don't expect more than I make now. What I do see is the earning potential and a path to my own truck, while having more ability to make decisions for myself. No, I won't have complete control. But, it is enough for me to be happy for now. While, I continue to learn and decide what my next step will be. This is more about my future than it is about money. I can make money anywhere.

Hey Steel, I have to ask, do you end up swapping a lot of loads due to speed? Do you run your full 11 to make up the distance difference?

I rarely swap. I make my deliveries on time. The disadvantage I have is that I rarely run ahead on a load and am able to drop.
Loads are calculated at 53 mph (provided shippers don't screw that up). Since I average 55-58 mph, I get there when I'm supposed to. There is no room for error on my part. A lot of 10 hour breaks and go.

One of the things I'm looking forward to in the new truck is being able to run ahead.

600 miles in a shift is all JCT is gonna get out of me.

Just checked road conditions in Wyoming. 80 is closed from Cheyenne to Laramie til 11am. Looks the other driver I was traveling with yesterday is stuck til they open it back up.

That's what happens when you don't run 80 while it's open and with hours left to drive. Especially with bad weather on the way.
