Push clutch in and no neutral no clutch brake. Only way to get the truck moving is set it up in LO gear and start truck and let it lurch forward and float gears that way. Don't dare stop because you have to stop the engine again and use starter to get truck moving again which is hell on the starter. In fact burned up the starter yesterday and had to get a tow and starter replaced so I can deliver my load 100 miles and bobtail to the shop. Trying to save a buck cost me times 10.
Anyway, mobile mechanic thinks it might be throwout bearing, and clutch disk plates seem to be slipping because even little tiny bunny hills will dog down the speed.
Looking for ballpark figures to fix this- any ideas, best to worst case scenarios
Oh yeah , eaton 13 speed

$1500 seems a little high for a clutch (parts only). However, the place I was talking to might have been pulling numbers out of their nether regions.
blairandgretchen and scottied67 Thank this. -

All inclusive, parts550, labor might be as high as1000
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Last clutch I bought was $440ish. Depending on what shop you use,ask if you can bring your own parts. It might save a little on mark up.

I've seen clutch assemblies run anywhere from $800 to $1500 depending on location and brand. Not sure which model of truck you have but its typically a 6-10 hour job to just re and re clutch. Longer if you have PTO's. However I would strongly recommend getting the flywheel turned and the engine rear main seal changed since you're already right there. The shop'll need extra time if you need to have transmission input shaft changed or transmission input seal changed as well.
Also here's a tip to save some money down the road. Most clutch assemblies come with a one piece clutch brake. If it ever has to get changed, the shop will have to torch/cut it out and there's a risk they could fubar the input shaft doing it. Have your shop toss that 1 piece and put in a 2 piece. -
Best advice I can give ya is to go back to the last place you used it and retrace your steps to where you are now....should be somewhere in between!
Aren't ya glad I was here to help?blairandgretchen, tucker, dngrous_dime and 2 others Thank this.
