I dunno. When I run bulk I make $26.43 per hour (time and a half after 8 hours) & when I run the side loaders i make $95 per day plus.34 cents for every case I touch (average 570-670 cases per day) plus a confusing variable rate formula for OT after 8 hours. Oh, and 7 cents for every empty shell you pick up. Some days I'll come back with 600 shells, so it adds up.

Knew a guy that worked Coke. He was salaried and made like $.10 commission per case. 3 AM till 1 PM, five days a week. He never got past $48k/year even after three years.

Try LTL freight. Pays better. Was doing $63k doing linehaul. Now making $58k/year doing P&D

Hell that's $42.00 just for picking up empty shells to mean that's not to shabby. Heck you do 600 shells a day 350 working days a year or what ever your 8-10K a year just for picking up empty shells.

600 is extreme. Most days it's around 200-300 but if I go hunting I can find them. If I'm ahead of schedule I'll stop into the supermarkets I pass and pick them up. Or if I have a light case day I'll go looking with the goal of matching my case count that day- that's an easy way to bring my commission per case up to 41 cents.

All kinds of ways to make money when you get paid for everything you touch. Just gotta get creative somwtimes

True! We don't get paid a thing for picking up empties so it makes me irritated when I come back with a bunch! Lol

When I do bulk I don't get paid for them. They just get in the way. Lol. I'll call a sideloader guy and tell him to come meet me and give them to him on those days. I'd rather see someone get paid for them - and not have to move them around my trailer all day. Ha

That's one thing I don't miss at all picking up empty kegs my Thursday I would leave with the 14 bay full of beer and kegs and come back with the entire trailer full of empty kegs.
