Check with your local state i do know that Ohio job and family services will pay for you to go through places like roadmaster because they don't want you to sit on welfare for three or four years. I know when i went through the class they claim thats how they got the class paid for.

I don't understand all these complaints against TMC. If these guys (and gals) were not making money there would be no way they could afford all that wax and chrome polish they use on their trucks.

Skateboards are not for everyone though. I would say start out box first, then skate or maybe tank.

TMC did have a little advertised program where they would put you through a school somewhere in Iowa. It was a loan and you would have to pay it back weather you continued to work for TMC or not. You might check with a TMC recruiter to be sure Snowman. That program may not exist anymore. There was one person I knew on another board that went through that program about a year and a half ago.

Don't think it does anymore. When i called them before weeks ago, the lady told me i should go thru DMACC (local area community college) and take their CDL course. It is a 6 week course, and costs $3900. Which really isnt bad.....except i dont have $3900...not to mention i dont want to wait 6 weeks to complete the course (though i am told it is a GREAT course), then go thru 3 weeks of training with TMC, then another 2-4 weeks with a trainer. that is 3 months + before i was solo earning my own paycheck. It isnt the fact i want to get solo....i want to learn, and get my but into a truck with a trainer to learn more. I just want to be sure I do it as efficently as i can. I will call DMACC tomorrow and ask if they can hook me up with financial aid....but my credit SUPER SUCKS....so i doubt it.

in response to your concerns about schooling and reembersment. I went to CDI out of South Bend Indiana. It was a three week course it cost 6000.00. Upon completion I was hired by TMC their paying the tab 150.00 a month. I am putting in 25 a week to pay it off faster. In the first week you fill out 17 aplications. The second week you call the places you want to drive for when you gradute you already have orientation set up. You are not under contract to the company if you are not happy with your situation call the school and they will help you get a different job you have life time employment as long as you graduate. hope this helps you out any question just ask will help as much as I can when im home. your brother of the road. Queball a very happy TMC employee.:biggrin_25522:

    Snowman&Fred,

I don't know your whole history on here but there is a program that will pay for your training with the goverment called WIA. The main reason that you get this is for displaced workers. If you were laid off or company shut down. There may be more reasons so it would not hurt to look into it. It was first put into place for auto workers but now they expanded it for other workers. This is how my husband has gotten his training. They pay not only for the training also the CDL test, endorsements, about everything. In our county the office is located in the same building as Job and Family services.

    Brianc20,
It was fairly easy process. I think if you have been displaced due to company closing doors or maybe lay offs. Just find the WIA office in your area and go there. They were very helpful.

Rawlco (or really anyone at TMC)

I have seen many good and bad about TMC. And since you are a driver for them its best i prob ask you.

Do they really force you to run illegal like some say?or is it just the particular trainer you get?

I heard there equipment looks really good. All nice and clean, but I heard things about bad tires, etc... on vehicles you have to drive.

I know there is no perfect truck company, but I am going to TDI Monday the 11th and was strongly thinking TMC.

I know you cant tell me who I should work for, but is TMC a good choice? How have they treated you?
